¥Nanao ms-2931 tube swap (can't get a good picture )¥

Post by tengugurl »

Hi!
Thanks for your help in advance ❤️

Overview:
My monitor had some major burn in and I replaced the tube, replaced the capacitors but I am sucking at figuring out the convergence issues on my monitor.

Has anyone done a successful tube swap on this chassis and how did you do it?

Have a look at what a weekends worth (11hrs+) of playing around with moving a yoke back and forth and littering magnet convergence strips like a mad woman.

Still can't get the bloody colors to not bleed/get the picture to be more flat.

PS
I have been using the factory mode switch (3 buttons pressed at the same time menu, up, down) and I can only get it so far.

The static convergence "aka the ring adjustments on the neck to"
Don't do anything! :( Barely moves anything

what value resistor do you have at r732

also your yoke and/or ring set is set badly, you have purity and convergence issues

What tube is that?

Take a pic of the back showing the yoke and yoke rings.

Hi! Thanks
I am not seeing an R732 on this board
I go from r 724 to 900s.
Checked the neck PCB board as well and I am not seeing anything, unless it's hidden somewhere?
Any general vicinity I should be looking?

The tube came from a Samsung TV, it's a 27V1R 1.3.
Pics are here

Thanks again.

So I am using the adjustment rings from the stock Nanao tube and the yoke from the nanao tube.
That might be why the adjustment rings barely do anything, wrong diameter maybe? Idk.. thinking outloud.

r732 is the heater current resistor right next to cn703- its close to the b+ fuse
on some chassis this around 4 ohms and on others it 1 ohm- depends on what tube is fitted

Yay! Found it, it was literally in front of me.

The resistor is 3.4 Ohms 5%

it's quite possible that the TV tube doesn't have the same deflection angle as the 2931 tube and the yoke which is shaped for a specific angle doesn't work on the other tube. Look for a number (100 or 110) embossed in the glass. The TV service manual would have helped but that model doesn't even show up on google.
