Nanao 2930 Wavy Screen

Post by BlinG »

I have 2930 that has an issue when the monitor is first turned on. I get a wavy picture. Then after about 5 minutes the monitor stabilizes and it looks great. Any ideas on where to look first?

most likely bad solder joint but also possible could be a capacitor

I figured it could be a bad cap somewhere. Would it be ideal to change filter caps as well?

mains filter caps normally cause a bad wave in the picture, yours looks to be ground or sync/frequency related

So this has been resolved by replacing some questionable caps, filter caps and reflowing lots of solder joints. Thank you for your responses grantspain!

When I turn on my E2, I also have wavy lines on my Toshiba monitor since I bought it.
After one or two minutes they are gone and the picture is nice.
Good to know this can be solved by replacing some faulty caps on the chassis board.👍

Most likely the flyback should be replaced.

In case this helps someone else, I had a similar problem and a normal cap kit didn’t help. I had to replace the 3 big filter caps too and the problem went away.
