Broken potentiometer

Post by SailorLodestar »

So I just got my monitor recapped only to realize the pot for red gain on my remote is broken. So I can't see the new clean picture. T_T
How would I go about fixing or replacing the potentiometer? (the monitor is stock for capcom impress btw).

can you see a code printed on the pot, maybe 502 or 53?

202 would be 2k ohm
you can also read using a multimeter, adjust pot fully one way and then read centre leg to one of the outer legs, one leg will read min resistance and the other the maximum resistance and this leg is the actual pot value- read out of circuit

It's broken so it turns endlessly and doesn't change the resistance.

Can I solder on a replacement?

Where would I get a replacement? Someone on another forum said to use www.digikey.com but I'm not exactly sure how to sift through its search options.

There are so many variables and they're alien to me. Would this work? https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/ ... ND/1088218
