The goal of the glass is to protect the Vewlix's screens in arcade centers. It's pointless at home (Do you add a glass in front of your TV? ).

Re: Vewlix: Replace easily your screen with a 1080p or 1440p monitor
Really nice work there, Thanks for taking the time to share.
The original panel on my chinese copy not being 720p nor 1080p native screws up the simulated scan-line alignment on the M2 Shottrigger titles. I hate that crap.
Other than that, it's pretty competent. I'm gonna see if i can upgrade mine.
I would like to go for a 1080p native panel though. Something with low input lag. Hummm
Any sugestions?

The 32MP58HQ is a really good choice, and not expensive. As Jughead mentioned here https://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic ... 87#p508431 It's the 1080p screen they use in the Vewlix.Mantrox wrote: ↑February 22nd, 2019, 10:20 am Really nice work there, Thanks for taking the time to share.

Will do, i also have a 1 player capcom reproduction panel coming in the mail.
With the red Vewlix it's gonna look even better, and also play better since i can be in the middle for the shmups and fighters
Edit: What the hell, just checked a local store and they have a 32MP58HQ for 180€, even cheaper than amazon. Jackpot!
Edit2: Bought!

Re: Vewlix: Replace easily your screen with a 1080p or 1440p monitor
Heya, i'm back.
Just finished the screen swap, and it couldn't be any easier.
Here's some photos with more reference in case someone is still on the fence.
Took out the original Chinese Vewlix monitor with everything still attatched.
Just lift the monitor, and store it somewhere; you get the glass with it's retainers.
Remove the glass, clean the surface and apply the foam tape.
Try get the tape a milimeter off the rim, so that you can't see it, when the monitor is mounted on it.
Drop the monitor in, and adjust it's position.
With some of the left over tape, apply it to the glass retainer tips, so that they don't scratch the monitor while applying force.
Beneath the monitor i put 2 pieces of styrofoam cut to fit snuggly and apply a little pressure.
Turn it around and check if everything is right.
The foam on the top left was just a tiny bit over the rim. I adjusted it and, when the monitor is on the Vewlix you can't see anything.
I was running out of light and you can't see the edges very well in the photo, but everything fit perfect.
And there it is, crispy 1080p upgrade for 180€
Thanks Artik.

I used the LG 32MP58HQ.
It's a 1080p IPS panel.

Awesome thanks!
Wonder if it can still be used with the glass on.

It's pretty pointless to leave the glass on, as you only get more hassle out of it.
You have to disassemble everything when you want to clean it and you get more reflections.
Still, if you want to leave the glass, just clean it and leave it under the new monitor and put some more foam inbetween the edges to prevent scraping if dirt gets trapped.
It's easy as that.

Re: Vewlix: Replace easily your screen with a 1080p or 1440p monitor
I don't feel any difference between this one and the previous monitor i had, so i'm good.
I don't think there are input lag values available for this panel anywhere, though.

Sweet! I might seriously consider this as I've been having some issues with my monitor when I put it on a switcher and splitter - when switching to pc, it displays 1680x1050 only (my Chewlix thread has it all detailed)

@artik Great guide! Thanks for posting it.
@artik & Mantrox can you post how wide the border of the metal bezel is and the size of the opening? H X W? I want to compare it to my Taito Vewlix L and see if they are the same size.

Re: Vewlix: Replace easily your screen with a 1080p or 1440p monitor
Thanks for all the helpful information and photos.
I am looking to replace the monitor with a cheap 4K monitor as I will be using an Xbox One X and a 1080ti.
I am considering the Samsung U32J590 but I just can’t seem to find any measuments for the bezel to compare it to the LG models in this thread.

Re: Vewlix: Replace easily your screen with a 1080p or 1440p monitor
I told you! Really easy, isn't it ?
I'm so happy you did it too
But, but there is no reason to. It will create a bit more deepness effect and more reflections.
Welcome. But why putting a 4k screen with a 1080 console? All will look really blurry. Nothing will be sharper than an native resolution, with the same native screen. In your case i'd bet on a 1080 with one second of hesitation. Buying a 4k for a Xbox is not a good idea. Only for a powerfull PC that can natively manage 4k resolution.
You're really welcome!
Sure, but as my Vewlix is all mounted, I don't have the total width nor the left size (marked with a "?"). But it looks the same as the top and bottom, so I guess 40mm too.
Guys, if you do also a modification, please post pics, I really enjoy looking at them
Thanks Mantrox
