Nanao MS9 on an Orion tube?
Good evening gentlemen!
A friend of mine just recently aquired a Naomi and he's on the process of chopping it.
However, as he purchased the cabinet to use it as a Jamma setup, he asked the operator to trade the monitor to a 15Khz one.
Altough the tube has a SEGA frame and stickeron its back, I'm not sure if it can be used with an MS9 chassis.
I mesured the yoke and it reads as follows:
06.00 Vertical
00.8 Horizontal
The tube is an A68KTB140X. It has a compatible socket. The yoke connector seems identical with the Sanwa's PM1745 ones.
I'll be doing all the wiring and all for him as he's scared of this kind of stuff.
Any experience on this one? Can I plug an MS9 without frying the chassis? Thank in advance.

Thanks for the link, but that doesn't kill my doubt. Is it within the tolerance range?
Not sure how far the chassis/yoke combo can take it.

you need the inductance reading of both vertical and horizontal

I suppose it is on a sticker somewhere on the tube. I'll check it when I'm home and I'll post them then.grantspain wrote: ↑October 16th, 2018, 2:06 pm you need the inductance reading of both vertical and horizontal

unlikely, you need an inductance meter

You're right.
And those values don't show. This monitor seems to have been pulled out of a Sega Touring Car.
I think I'll pass and not take the risk.
Thanks anyway for your inputs.

The horizontal ohm reading points to a 300uH inductance. It should work with the MS9 or in any case not cause damage. I would give it a try. You'll need to cut the yoke connector in half and keep the horizontal (red/blue) but replace the vertical. If you need the connector I have them.

I actually have some original spare parts for the Horizontal plug. And those green ones used by the Hantarex/Intervideo are a tight fit too
Looks like I'll give it a try then!

Re: Nanao MS9 on an Orion tube?
Just to leave an update on this.
Unfortunatelly, the operation was cancelled. The degaussing wires were damaged and all parties agreed to swap the tube.
I'm only mad because I won't know if this tube would be suitable for an MS9 chassis!
Thanks you all, for all the inputs on this.
