Chipping in that I've tried it the other way round, referring to the info below.
Had a Hitachi tube running off an E2 (MS9-29T) chassis for a few years and it worked fine. Also tested a NAC (MS9-29A) chassis.

I'm pretty sure that will mean the MS9-29SU 'Hitachi Chassis' will work on the Tosh tube without any issues.

MS9-29T is the Taito chassis with auto-degauss, MS9-29A is the Astro City chassis with manual degauss; they're pretty much the same chassis. There's a third model using a Hitachi tube, the MS9-29SU (imo it stand for Sega Universal, since it was built in various Sega cabinets). The yoke specs of the Hitachi tube are slightly different than the specs from the Toshiba tube, but I think they're all kinda interchangeable.

Yes, I have used both in my E2. I have had less issues with the regular 29 over the 29T.

However you don't have auto degauss, but I have a ring since I don't feel like the auto degauss does its job.

Just to make sure, you are talking about the regular ms9-29 that can also be found in the NAC and some racers right?
