roasting on the sucker
Recently, there is some silent enough roasting/crispy noises coming from the sucker. When I shut the cab down and disconnect the monitor, it diseapper after 20min, but if I move the sucker to let the air coming in (also cab shutted down), there is some windy noise and the crispy noise go away quicker. Image isn't alternate. I feel there is some electricity activity inside, that's why I'm waiting until tomorrw until the tube will be discharched to take the sucker off and see what's happened.

Re: roasting on the sucker
Apply some silicone HV insulation grease to that area where the anode cap sits.

Re: roasting on the sucker
Thanks for the tip. Is it ok if a bit of sillicon goes into the hole?
Meanwhile, it seems I didn't set it well before since I pushed the upper part of the cap instead of hooking it gently to leave it puffy. Now there isn't any noise.

Re: roasting on the sucker
Probably not but I'd avoid the hole if possible.
You want a nice air tight fitting. Grease is preferred but not essential.

Re: roasting on the sucker
Do a proper discharge on it. Don't just leave it over night:
https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/How_to_d ... _a_monitor
After discharcing the tube, clean the area around the anode with isopropyl alcohol. Both the tube as well as the anode cap. However, notice that the area around the tube will have paint on it. If you scrub too much you will start removing it. Don't do that.
As for the grease, you should you have a thin layer of it around the edge of the anode cap for a good seal.

Superpang:
in fact it could be missunderstood
Yosai:
When you said ''You want a nice air tight fitting'', it means it's ok to leave it puffy right?
Nem:
What about denatured ethanol? Btw, I didn't notified any thin layer of grease around the edge of the cap on this chassis. About painting: I never scrub the painting around this area, only on a small place there (I just wanted to clean the adhesive leftovers and didn't know about the use of that painting at this period...)

If it's air tight it's all good, otherwise you'll hear crackling.

Re: roasting on the sucker
The original grease will likely have long since evaporated and just left some residue.
Ethanol is fine for the job. The paint is there for insulation, you don't want to remove it. The small spot you removed won't matter.
