MS8 remote board issue

So I have an MS8 on my Astro City, haven't used it for almost a year, so I put a jamma game and turned it on. When I turned it on the picture looked really small, not sure if that was game specific or monitor related.. but anyway, I started adjusting the vertical and horizontal knobs on the remote board, the knobs were stuck so I put some strength into it, the knobs cracked free, can rotate freely but now the video signal is out, the monitor wont power up anymore. Anyone know how I should approach this? I'm guessing the problem is a cracked knob on the remote board, but is the monitor supposed go completely dead like that? or could there be some other issue? Also if the picture is really small does that mean it's time for a recap? thanks for your help!
