Initial D 3 mointor/chassis model?
Hello all,
My ID3 left monitor just pooped out. Its still got neck glow so it probably needs a cap kit and maybe a few other small things. Upon inspection I didnt see a model number anywhere on my chassis(also havent pulled it all the way out) . Any one know what chassis they typically use?
Thanks in advance.

More than likely a Sanwa 29e31s but if you're lucky enough to have a Japanese cab it will be a Toshiba PF.

Thanks a ton! Now how the heck does the chassis separate from it base? I cant seem to figure this one out...
Its discharged and unplugged, Im just not sure which screws are keeping the board in, and some are inaccessible from the monitor

From that description alone I can tell it's a 29e31s
I seem to remember there being two screws that screw on from the top through the PCB, close to the heatsink.
Honestly, it's easier to just take the whole tray out. The screws are on the bottom for it IIRC. However, you will more than likely need to pull out the monitor.

Well I finally got it out but the capkit didnt seem to have much effect. It has very little neck glow but I do see some. When the monitor went out it went dim slowly and then never got better. I checked for cold solder and made sure all my connections were secure when putting it back in. What else should I be looking for? Perhaps the flyback is going bad?

Have you adjusted voltage on the flyback?

Ill get a pic posted here shortly. Yeah I toyed with the voltage on the flyback but there wasnt much of a difference, even in the neck.

Re: Initial D 3 mointor/chassis model?
set your meter to diode test and then read centre leg to both outside legs and then to heatshield- if it reads like a diode its ok but if you get dead short(000) then its knackered

The HOT appears to be fine, reads from both legs and the heatshield.

Re: Initial D 3 mointor/chassis model?
still struggling with this. if anyone know where i can find a replacement flyback that would be awesome. Ideally Id just like to send it off for repair but Im not sure who in the US can service it. I have 1 contact who says they can but they dont have a proper monitor to test their work on so it would be as is, which Id rather not pay for.

HR 46274 is the replacement, you will need to change r447 to 68k and make 2 links

I appreciate the input! What do you mean by make two links? Looks like that resistor is right beside the flyback on the board. Shouldnt be too hard to handle.
