Nanao MS-2934 MS-2932 Tube compatibility

Post by PappaLazarou »

Hi All,

I've got a Nanao MS-2934 with a Toshiba A68KSM696X tube. The mainboard appears fried - . I'm waiting on delivery of a MS-2932 main-board and neck-board I bought online (impulse purchase) and now I'm wondering if it's compatible - anyone know? Are the Dx/Dy specs the same?

Cheers,
Mike.

Cheers Grant, I know they're both 31kHz chassis but I wasn't sure if the slightly different toshiba tube p/n made a difference. Will give it a try when chassis arrives.
Thanks, Mike.

They're not identical-- 2932 is fully curved (A68KJU696X), 2934 is semi-flat (A68KSM696X), but they are compatible as far as I know.

Ah that explains the part different Toshiba tube numbers.
Sounds like I'll be good pairing the MS-2932 to my semi-flat tube then :D
Cheers guys,
Mike.

Got the MS-2932 chassis and paired it up to MS-2934S Tube and it works.
Picture is a bit wobbly and degaus coil not being energized but relay clicking so possibly PTC(?)
The chassis looks like its been stored near a beach the amount of corrosion on the jumper wires! Going to give it a good clean on the weekend and recap it.
Otherwise happy days :-)

@PappaLazarou any update on the monitor? Also how did it fit in your cabinet? I plan on getting a Blast City but it has monitor burn and I would like to do a tube swap if possible.

A Nanao MS-2930 / 31 / 33 / 34 and a Sanwa 29E31S tube will fit a Blast City. A MS8, a MS9 and a MS-2932 will not (unless you want to leave the bezel off).

Hello Nem,

Now for the Sanwa monitors, are they a perfect fit or have the small gap in the bezel? And I am guessing they are all Tri-Sync?

It's a perfect fit, yes.

The 29E31S is 31khz only.

Awesome!

I will go ahead and add the Nanao MS-2930 / 31 / 33 / 34 and a Sanwa 29E31S to the list of monitors I am searching for.
