Hi,

Could anyone tell me what TP2 (or I guess Test Point 2) is used for on a MS9-29?

Thank you in advance!

They're test points.

For testing purposes and diagnosing faults.

Thanks for the reply, but that's what I mentioned in my initial post... I know it's a test point, but I can't seem to find any documentation about it.

Does anyone know what can actually be tested with it?

Depends on the test point. Generally manufacturers supply service manuals that specify an ideal voltage or waveform at specific points. When testing these can be checked with a multimeter or an oscilloscope. It helps to track down faults that aren't Initially obvious.

Yes, I was aware of that, but the information I'm looking for is what these test points are supposed to measure on an MS9.

After some testing, it looks like TP2 could be related to B+.
I measured 82V on that point and the B+ pot directly affects its value.

Could someone confirm that TP2 is used for measuring B+?

Are you just poking about or is your monitor not working properly? If it's the latter, post the fault and someone can tell your where to look.

As for the correct voltage at TP2, grantspain may know the answer.

I do have a problem with a TGM2Plus PCB. The image moves horizontally by a few pixels every 3-4 seconds.
This is the only PCB showing this behavior and when tested in another cab or supergun, the image is stable.

Give the pot on the chassis labelled HH.15 a tweak, see if that solves the issue. Maybe the frequency is slightly out of spec.

I tried that with no luck...
The horizontal movement decreases as I lower the contrast/brightness though.
Just to mention, a capkit has been done about a month ago.
