Convergence (Wei Ya Chassis/Samung Tube)

Post by battlesmurf »

So I've adjusted the yoke to get the picture lined up better. I've adjusted the rings, I've tried convergence strips.

Short version-the rest of the screen is as good as I can get. The lower portion (lower 10%) the red convergence is off. Is there something I'm missing or is this as good as it'll get?

Thanks!

A convergence strip or two under the yoke facing that corner should correct that.

I used this stuff in mine, exact same monitor and chassis.

In my experience plain magnets alter the geometry rather than convergence. Personally, I've had better results with strips of copper when going the DIY route for convergence tweaking.

It's still a lot of fannying about when you could just get the proper convergence strips for the sake of a few £.

Correct, in hindsight geometry is what I used it for primarily.

I can get it a little better- but this travels across the lower 10% of the monitor. I can get the corners a little better, but not that whole bottom half.

Is there any trick to it that I'm missing?

I've tried with up to 8 haha.

I guess the question is- with this chassis/yoke/tube combo- is it possible that this is as good as it'll get?

Maybe might be worth trying to fridge magnet next as they're pretty strong. See if you can get any correction at all.

Maybe grant might spot this thread and jump in with a suggestion too.

Christ, are you sure you're putting them in the right spot?

if its one quarter out then it could the yoke slightly out

proper convergence strips should be used to fine tune, you may need a few and they normally go right inside the yoke area rather than out

it is very painstaking getting convergence perfect

When you say yoke slightly out- if I scoot out the rubber stoppers on the bottom and fit the yoke closer along the bottom, that should help, no? It's basically along the bottom up 10-20% ish.

I appreciate you guys' help with this.
