Blast City adjust horizontal and vertical sync
Apologies if this is answered elsewhere i've had no luck searching.
I was hoping to get some help on how to adjust the horizontal and vertical sync.
Some of the cabinets i have have breakout boards with pots controlling these settings, but some are limited just to size and position.
Also, i'm not entirely sure on how to actually check exactly what monitor i have.
If anyone has any advice i'd be really grateful
A couple of pics of the machine i'm currently working on

Re: Blast City adjust horizontal and vertical sync
Looks like a Nanao MS-2930, judging by the remote board in your second picture and the layout of items in the 1st pic (orange Low Ripple Current capacitor, vertically mounted daughterboard, geom adjustments along the side). There should be a sticker on the top of the monitor frame with the model number.
Your geometry adjustments are those potentiometers along the side of the chassis. If you look closer, names for each of the adjustments are silkscreened on the PCB.

Re: Blast City adjust horizontal and vertical sync
Thanks a lot for the advice.
I did check those pots but i couldn't see anything relating to Horizontal or Vertical sync.
Will check again tomorrow.
For adjusting these pots is it preferable to move the monitor outside of the cabinet?

Re: Blast City adjust horizontal and vertical sync
no adjustments on a chassis are called sync, perhaps you are thinking about frequency/hold
would be a good idea to tell us exactly why you need to find these pots

Re: Blast City adjust horizontal and vertical sync
Hi Grant,
You're right, i think i mean hold.
I was having the issue below, and it seemed similar to an issue with another board i had which was sorted by adjusting the horizontal hold/frequency.
It was on an Astro though and these control were on the breakout board, so it was a lot easier.

Re: Blast City adjust horizontal and vertical sync
should be a h.hold pot on the side of the main chassis-on ms9 they are marked h.hold 15 and h.hold 25 (for 15k and 25k)
not seen many ms2930 so not sure which pot it will be

Re: Blast City adjust horizontal and vertical sync
I can take a look when I get home, later, but I don't believe there are freq/hold adjustments on the 2930.

Re: Blast City adjust horizontal and vertical sync
Thank you both, i managed to get it sorted.
The pots i needed were definitely on there, although still practically impossible to get to.
I managed to adjust the hold, and then also the trapizoid needed adjusting too.
What do people usually do for stuff like this? Is it normal to take the monitor out just to adjust a few pots? Seems crazy that they couldn't have just put everything in easy reach or altogether on a breakout!

Re: Blast City adjust horizontal and vertical sync
in theory once the geometry is set and picture stable then when swapping pcb only vertical/horizontal size and brightness need be adjusted---in theory

Oh, good. I was just about to go check out my spare chassis. I couldn't remember seeing it, and I haven't had to adjust it so I wasn't certain.supertakumar wrote:Thank you both, i managed to get it sorted.

which pot did the trick ? looks exactly like incorrect VGA porch settings... those are properly set ( and applied a bit of putty ) at the factory.supertakumar wrote:
