Ok I'm out of ideas short of a cap kit.
I have a NNC with a riverservice jamma adapter loom. I get some weird distortion at the top of the screen when using thinks other than a naomi....
jamma boards: this is what it looks like this
atomiswave/31k/dsub :
at first I thought it was just 15k issue. something with the loom. So I...
added 220 ohms resistors on the rgb lines, ( cut the traces on the cga/vga adapter pcb , soldered in resistors. ) no change
built a cable that goes from the cga/vga adapter pcb to the AMP UP connector on the chassis, no change
completely removed the RS loom out of the equation by using a jamma pass through as such
still ... same problem..
can't fix it with any of the remote board settings, even the extra menus.
anyone got an idea ? I don't get why 15k works fine with the naomi but not with anything else..

Re: Toshiba PF D29C051 issues
I had that on mine (the zig zag, not the bending). Yet it seems to have fixed itself, or I did something I don't remember that solved it. Certainly nothing to do with the monitor though.
It *may* be a grounding issue. I know I had to add an earth strap for my MAME PC case to the cab.
I'll check again when I have a chance.
Oh... It could also be the step down, but again a grounding thing rings a bell - I've rewired the cab with a proper 3 prong mains setup.

Re: Toshiba PF D29C051 issues
thanks for the reply
it's not using any step down transformers, I'm in the US.
wish I had a way to see the diff in the signal between a jamma boards' 15k and the naomi's 15k... trying to narrow down the cause of this.

how many sync wires do you have connected?

Re: Toshiba PF D29C051 issues
for jamma, just 1 : h/c sync
for the 31khz. not sure how the vga is wired internally on the naomi or atomiswave.
does that monitor require separate sync signals ???

Re: Toshiba PF D29C051 issues
the chassis should be h sync only but the issue your chassis is displaying is similar to when both sync are connected
have you moved the video plug on the chassis to the cga header yet?

I'm not sure what you mean by that.
both DSUB and AMP UP ports are wired / functional on the chassis. I can feed 31/15 to either the DSUB or AMP/UP.

doh, so turns out top bin balance issue was caused by the F3 mobo I had ( swore i tested another pcb... )
still have the wavy patterns though. sigh

To resurrect an ancient topic, these screens seem to have edge wobble or droop on various PCB families, Taito are a particular problem from Flying Shark era onwards, and most Seta derived hardware. Other boards like Namco ones are always perfect.
