How much does a MS8-29 weigh?

Might seem a strange request but i am having a new kitchen delivered and need to be able to fit a double oven in a cabinet - the oven i have got coming weighs 51kg. I don't have a clue if i am going to be able to lift it in or not on my own.

I have previously been able to lift monitors in and out of cabs such as naomis, Astros and an AWSD with no problems so am wondering how they compare in weight to the oven - anyone have any ideas? The oven only has to be lifted about 50cm from the floor so its not like ill be swinging it around above my head :D

Most 29" monitors are about 40-45kg

i sort of misread this a bit and thought you were on about removing a monitor and installing a double oven in it's place :awe:

Given my luck with monitors that wouldn't be such a bad idea!

Hi d00d,

At my old job 25kg was the max one person was expected to lift. I reckon that if you are experienced in manual handling techniques you could probably safely lift 35kg on your own.

51kg will definitely take two persons!!!

Get a mate to help.

Cheers,

Ralph.

I guess in Germany they are a bit harder when it comes to physical work.. my colleagues are supposed to lift and carry ~50kg the whole day and not just lifting it up 50cm once a day..

Me personally have absolutely no problem lifting 29" monitors and even more than just out of the cabinet (see my Naomi workout which needed to get to the 8th floor without any dolly or second person)

and my plasma television + glass stand is more than 50kg and my huge sony vega crt weighs more than 50kg as well..

I only want to say, that it's possible for one person if you are clever while lifting and have something in your arms..
..and it may help if you aren't 48 years old! :P

edit: I just checked your account and looked at your age :palm:
..it's okay to get a second person! :awe:

Don't forget that a monitor is reasonably dense/compact, any the frame means it's possible for a single person to pickup vertically (if you're not a wuss or 48 :-p).
A double oven is going to be much bigger (got long arms?) - especially if you have to do fixings at the same time.
i think it's safe to say you should phone a friend...

If you don't lift regularly or have fairly good core - then do not risk it!!

I'd imagine lifting the double oven would be a similar feat as tackling a 38" crt and those mofos are heavy and cumbersome.

Large plasma tvs are not so heavy, just akward.
