Monitor Trouble (Sega astro City)

Post by rodwod »

Hi
I hope everyone is off to a good start this year.

But i have a monitor problem on my sega astro city cab.

monitor model number M68JUA068X 29''

The problem..
everything powers up on the cab but the Monitor .
(game sound/power to the game pcb/marquee light/all work)

The Monitor seems dead..
i see no glow i can feel no heat and i can not hear any TV like sounds
from the back of the Monitor after removing the panel plate on the cab.

I only hear a clicking sound from the back of the Monitor when i turn the power off.
It sounds like its from the circuit board but i'm not sure.

i have some links to pics of the Monitor and i have a sound clip
if anyone requires it.

Please help
where do i start and can i fix this myself?

hi
I think its a nanao but i'm not 100% .
The only sound that i can hear is a clicking sound when i turn the psu off but only if i turn it off within 10 seconds (if that makes any sense at all)

i can send you a mp3 of the sound if that helps.

Just to confirm what part is the chassis

i know it's a nanao ms9-29,i work on many of these chassis
the chassis is the term used for the electronic pcb that runs the tube

i fix these if this repair is too daunting for you

the click is the chassis starting up and shutting down, just because a sound comes from a particular component does not mean that component is faulty
your fault could be anything on that chassis,it could related to capacitors, bad solder joints or possible ic failure

your next step is to remove the chassis from the tube and check for bad solder joints and look for obvious cap leakage, any leakage will also smell-slightly fishy smell

if you need to send for repair then i only need the chassis, not the tube
