Is Windows Vista 64bit a total no go for a Mame PC?
I have problems with driver support for XP 64bit and Windows 7 64bit has problems due to boot the resolution.

Re: Windows Vista 64bit
I should have said that the reason I changing from XP 32bit is that I want to be able to run a 64bit build of Mame

Re: Windows Vista 64bit
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (not Windows XP 64-Bit Edition as that's for IA-64 processors)?
Never run it myself, so can't comment on it's implementation; although it appears to have been built using the Windows 2003 64-bit core, which works fine for servers.
I don't have it, but I'm sure you could ask the Internet to find it for you.
