Vewlix Screen Replacement - Best option?

Post by TadCool »

So, the worst happened and you have to replace the 32" LCD of your Vewlix. What would be the best option out there?

You should worry! :awe:

I'm probably entering the Vewlix C club soon, so one must be prepared. I know nothing about LCDs. :(

I wonder if any 32" LCD will fit there. I'm guessing no.

Not without a lot of hacking. The monitor's a commercial type LCD and essentially frameless (in a plasticky tv frame sense) with a bunch of fans on the rear of the case. I don't even think the holes in the mount are VESA compliant. Here's a pic from the manual (ignore my red scribbles)...

Just buy a coffee table put a lcd tv on top & wire up a Boardmaster supergun & you'll have the same thing

I guess if your screen is supposedly dead, hacking another in wouldn't be a bad option - if not the only.

Let's say you can just shove another 32" screen there; which one? What brand/model would make a good replacement to the original?

Or, what TV would give you 'Vewlix F quality'?

A modern, decent spec lcd / led will be much better pq than the F.

The F has an old, by today's standards, screen.

It was a while ago but I googled the vewlix F's model number and Alibaba or some site similar were selling F monitors for much cheaper than I expected.

I can't look at the back of my F now since it's in the UK and I'm in New Zealand...

..of course this could just mean it was a cheap Chinese knock-off :(

That actually crossed my mind, it just makes sense. Thanks, mate. :)

Input lag would be something to worry about?

True. Lag seems to be a massive issue just now.

Thinnest, depth and smallish bezel. Once you decase it, it shouldn't be that much of a job to hook it up.

That being said, alibaba did have commercial monitors for sale. It might be worth a try. Most panels (stuff) are made in China, so I doubt the quality will be much

I don't know how different the mounts are, but there is a guy on YouTube who has a Samsung LCD in his Lindbergh cab. He de-cased it and used the Lindbergh trims...I'm sure he's on here too (Fagin?) so it's always possible I'm sure :)

I'm also interested in this topic

Does anyone know a good replacement panel by now?
Afaik some Vewlix revisions have consumer grade panels, so it should work to buy such a TV and use the panel in a Vewlix (or not?!)

The Chinese Vewlix do. Should be no Problem to replace a Vewlix Screen with a normal 32" LCD.
