Cracking/ticking sound when turning off NAC

Post by mchay »

I'm experiencing some ticking/cracking sound, when I turn of my NAC with MS8 and Toshiba tube.

With the monitor out of the cab I can't see any sparks or anything. Is this kind of sound normal enough for this kind of monitor?
I'm not experiencing the same with the MS9 in my other machine.

Just checked and there is a black wire going from the neckboard to around the flyback.

Just changed the chassis and neckboard and I experienced the same sounds with the old chassis/neckboard combination.

Any ideas?

Is it a single crack noise or a crackling that fades away in a couple of seconds? Does it also happen when the picture changes from white (or very light) to completely black? Does it come from the yoke area?

there should be an earth wire going from neck card to the crt earth braid-its on a single pin connector(not soldered in)
the wire you noted is the screen volts

that crack you hear is the static

Is this a pin on the neck card? I have some kind of brid running on the tube and ending in a black wire, but should this be attached to the neck card?

Yes. Attach the black wire to the pin in the white square, bottom centre in the image below.
