Post by erzane »

hello everybody,
I just recieved my new egret2 today and I have some questions about some pots,

here is some pics of my new cab :

Image

Image

here is an example of the back of the chassis, here is two pots, what is them functions ?

Image

p.s. ''bort'' told me last time the definition of some pots of the row under the monitor
but I didnt understood well all functions (sorry but my english is not the best)

Image

A =Red ok
B =Green ok
C =Blue ok
D =Contrast ok

E = ABL ?
F = HH.24 ?
G = HH.15 ?
H = Para ok
I = SPC24 ?
J = H.S.LIN ?
K = SPC 15 ?
L = Trap ok
M = V.Lin ok
N = V.S.Limit ?

now I dont know where to put this small harness :

Image

and to finish the subject, can you tell me what is this ? :

thanks guys :-)

main sockets ? what is that ?

and here is a pic of my monitor :
I think some things aren't right
perhaps I must set a little bit the trap, but I think better it will be the rotation pot or what ?
there is no pin cush settings on this monitor ?

It's a socket you can use for plugging things into that you want powered.

Example: I am fixing something on the cab and need power to plug in my soldering iron - I can open up the cab and plug it directly in to the power supply at the front!

okay I understood thanks for your explication,
so,it s like a second conductor

.....and for my other problems concerning the monitor and his pots settings I found something

ABL ? it looks like a zoom
HH.15/24 ? it s nothing interesting
SPC 15/24 ? 15 = like a pin.cush
H.S.LIN ? it s like <-------------> (horizontal linearity)
V.LIN it look like the same as H.S.LIN but in Vertical (vertical linearity)
PARALELLE it's look like a small rotation

can you confirm it and help me to put the screen right ?
my screen after some settings is better than before but it rest two things that i cannot set , it's this :

a small rotation irregularity :

Image

and another last problem to resolve :

ABL ?automatic brightness limiter
HH.15/24 ? horizontal hold 15/24 khz
SPC 15/24 ? side pincushion 15/24khz
H.S.LIN ? if its lin then horizontal linearity but i think its lim therefore horizontal size limit
V.S.Limit vertical size limit

side pincushion is the adjustment you need to make,if you have a 15khz game then adjust the corresponding pot (spc 15)

i dunno about the last two,i will take a look on time crisis 2 tomorrow at my work as it has the same chassis
trap and para pots for the angle slant
try the h.s lin for your last problem,if it is a linearity pot then that should cure that problem
word of warning-don't mess with the abl pot :?

p.s. do you think it s risky to try those 2 pots now ?
tomorrow you will try them to ?

I tryed them but no important result
the problem is the pots are behind the cab, so we can't see well on screen in the same time

if we do not find a solution for that problem
have you got an idea for how to rotate the screen more than I succeed with the parallel pot ?
for example I heard that we can rotate (make all parallel at 100%) if we turn the tube of the monitor or something like that behind the monitor (manualy I would like to mean)...

a small rotation irregularity :

yes, is it possible ?
(on play, when the cab is ON)
-but I dont need to do it finaly because I regulated the screen to my convenance and I think it looks good :

Image

now what about the colours, bright & contrast for ''cave games'' ?
the most difficult thing is to choose the right balance between all that on a cave 3rd gen pcb.
someone prefere play darker with less brightness and more contrast, someone do the opposite
personaly I prefere more brightness and middle contrast
what do you think about ? how they play japanese guys ? somebody went to try some in a gamecenter in japan ?

Image

p.s. but now I see really well the big difference between the aw sd monitor and the e2 monitor, scanlines, colours, softness of the screen and for sure the geometry

Thats looking good *old topic bump alert*. I hope I can get mine a bit straighter with parallelogram and trapezoid adjustments. Maybe I'll post a test grid up out of boredom :?

you should never touch the abl pot,it is factory set using a white screen and special instruments
if it is set wrong then you will get brightness bloom on screen changes
middle is probably best
