Aero City / Nanao MS8 yoke plug question.

Post by bombjack »

Guys,

Is the yoke plug easy to access and flip from the back of an (open) Aero City?
Or do I have to remove the monitor?

I read, it has just one plug and two connectors, to flip the picture I need to plug into the unused connector next to the used one?

Thanks.

I have done this a few months ago...monitor left inside (in tate), i have quite big hands and it is not that big task.
Just be careful to plug it in right and not touch any of the high voltage parts.

I couldn't reach mine in tate mode and had to remove the monitor.

That's correct.

To make sure... your's are vertically oriented?
Mine is vertically oriented.

So I might or might not have to remove the monitor.

Are there any pre-made yoke switches for the Aero available? I really don't want to keep tating every time.

It's funny you should ask :awe:

I make a flip kit for the MS9 but I didn't think I could do a flip kit for the MS8. However, after looking at some pictures of the chassis this morning it looks to be fairly straight forward.

I've emailed a supplier in China for some parts. Fingers crossed I should have something available before too long :D

Just a quick question, looking at the chassis it seems like you can only flip the image vertically, not vertically and horizontally like the MS9, is that correct?

No problemo. I'll stick them in [my wiring thread] once they are ready but I can drop you a PM too if you like.

Thanks, yeah a PM would be cool.

You think this is going to be a matter of hours? days? weeks? months? :D Just so I know.

Hours is out of the question I'm afraid but somewhere in the days to weeks area should be doable I would hope :D

I normally get connectors like these from JST. They do stock them but the minimum order for that type is 500. I've found a company in China that manufacture them so I shot them an email to see if they can provide a smaller amount. Failing that I'll keep having a dig around.

They'll not take too long to do once I have them, I just need to get my hands on some :)

So which parts I do not want to touch?
Thanks.

Neck card should be OK, [need to be careful from a fragility POV] but don't move the suction cup at the other end of the red cable ;)

Thanks,

So the cup is the only part to stay far from?

I'm really scared to go in there and touch anything you know. :D

The bits at either end of the cable should be avoided ;)

 I remember when I used to think I had to discharge the tube every time I was going to unplug the anode, even days after the monitor was off... now I turn it off, grab the suction cup and yank it out. I've been doing this on more than 100 monitors and TVs in the past year and only experienced a slight zap on a couple of very old TVs where the flybacks apparently didn't have bleeder resistors. It's much worse when you get zapped by the AC mains.

So either way I will live?
I'm buying rubber gloves. :awe:
