One for Grantspain or Ordyne

Post by penrhos »

I've been offered a knackered GTI Club. The chassis is in a unknown state but the tube is burn-in free and supposed to be OK.

The tube is a Zenith R-A68AGD00XX and has a sticker WG-1257702 on it. A68 means its a 27/29" so should fit naomi/egret but how can I tell from the tube ref if the curvature & neckboard pinout will be OK.

More importantly what chance is there that it could be tri-sync'd.

the tube number give only the size and some factory codes
it is a 29" tube(americans call it 27"),all 29" tubes have the same neck-and this is almost certainly a curved tube due to the age
i had a gti club many moons ago that had a strange wg chassis-i think it will be the same, this will either be a 15/24 or 24 dedicated chassis-so that makes it either a u5000,k7600,k7500

zenith tubes were very poor quality btw and suffered from gun failure

for me to give further advice i would need to know the exact chassis or the yoke readings(including inductance)

really? cuz the neck on my newer monitor from niemen displays is longer than the neck on the stock ms9 was....like by an inch or 2.....it barely fits in the new astro city.....and the stock support arms for the monitor frame from the nanao were to short(slightly longer then the neck with neck board attached, but not enough)

we ended up having to use his stock supports to get enough clearance.....it touches the back of the cab ever so slightly now

is that odd?

He wants £10 for the monitor, chassis & frame but I have to collect from Stoke-on-trent.

A Gti Club should be a U5000, most of the crt's (just about everyone I have ever seen) isn't too clever. I've got the luxury of a CRT Rejuvenator so I can get 80% of them looking ok again..

U2000 & U5000's are really bad for having crapped out CRT's
