Yes, modding it ain't a biggie but I see the point of some people not willing to mess with it (including myself)KmanSweden wrote:I made my own extentionboard with the extra funtions. Easy with all the info in the Wiki.

Hmm looks like the guy hasn't been on this forum in quite a while? Anyone got any info on him? He's on Neo-arcadia forum I think

Can you save different settings for all 3 sync types (ie 15khz, 24khz, 31khz) or are the geometry settings set once for all freq? (*edit : yes you can

Thanks for the info but I'm very sloppy with the tin soldering iron and I'm afraid to break the original PCB.monouchi wrote:

Re: Toshiba Pure Flat (D29CQ56) Extended Menu
It's been a while since they were done and I'm sure there's a lot more people with these monitors now. Maybe if there's enough interest the guy will do another batch?
I know at least two people who would take one each. I know you can mod your own but it would be nice to keep the original for.. erm.. originality

I modded mine. It's a doddle to do.
The regular menu is straight up trash. I have four of these monitors in all, two of them paired. Three of the monitors had really poor reds before. However, not anymore! All four look pretty much identical now.

I only modded one. I can easily swap one between all four, since the remote doesn't need to be connected to the monitor to function.monouchi wrote:This.

Good, but mine are stuck to the cab, so for quicker adjustments I just modded them all. (Well, All = 3)nem wrote:I only modded one. I can easily swap one between all four, since the remote doesn't need to be connected to the monitor to function.monouchi wrote:This.

Hi, I'm new here and still learning how this works, I hope to do well ...
I've read the mod's instructions on the wiki, I've even adjusted the color by jumpering it with a cable because I want to keep the original pcb unchanged, so it would be great to get that new modified pcb from Firewall. Is not it still being manufactured?
Thanks!

I tried to PM him once but never ever got a respone.
Dunno if he's still/more active on other forums (is he French? Maybe on Neo Arcadia if so?).

Re: Toshiba Pure Flat (D29CQ56) Extended Menu
Thanks for the answer, for the moment making a cable bridge for one of the menus, and bridging with a resistance (approx 5k) for the other I have solved it
By the way, I tried to bridge with a resistance that I think is 1k and the selection went in the opposite direction to that generated by the cable...

Re: Toshiba Pure Flat (D29CQ56) Extended Menu
Hey all,
Sorry to bump this thread. I'm planning to mod my board and I'm putting together an order on Digikey. I had a few questions for people that have already performed this...
Can someone ID the push buttons that are used in the wiki guide? I'm having difficulty locating them. I'm using Monouchi's mod pics as reference.
What gauge wire are you using for the mod?
I'm assuming that the button holes in the pcb were drilled, what's the appropriate bit size?
Thanks for any help/advice. I'm pretty new to all of this, but I've recently gotten a NNC cab and it needs a bit of work.
Cheers!

Real shame the custom remote board is no longer produced, I reckon another 25 would easily be snapped up by us PF owners

Re: Toshiba Pure Flat (D29CQ56) Extended Menu
Yes, it's unfortunate, but based on what I read on Neo-Arcadia Firewall hasn't made them since 2015. He did publish his schematics/part list, so who knows, maybe an enterprising member of the community will make some more. I'm not holding my breath.
At any rate, to answer my own question (and for anyone else looking in the future), based on Firewall's part list, he used part COAPPHAP3301B from Elec-dif, which is Apem part PHAP3301B. Not directly available on Digikey, but a datasheet on that part helped me find one with similar characteristics:
https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/ ... ND/1798037
So that's what I'm going with. Hopefully I don't destroy my remote board.

Re: Toshiba Pure Flat (D29CQ56) Extended Menu
Hey folks, quick question.
I was modding my remote board and noticed the wires were stuck in front of the speakers but behind the speaker frame. The wires were a bit nicked so i decided to cut and resolder them.
Unfortunately i cut them without making a note of what the wire order was. And all the wires are white.
Since the pins on both side (chassis and remote) are numbered from 38 to 42, i tried wiring them in order with no luck.
Does anybody know the order, or can make a continuity test on their remote board loom to confirm?

I would have thought the pin numbers would have been consistent between the two PCBs but I can check tomorrow for you if you like.
