Nanao ms9 degauss

Post by virtvic »

I have now fitted the ms9 to my Naomi and it looks great. Only thing is a tiny bit of degauss needing doing.

I sorted it temporarily with a degaussing wand, as I am not sure how the wiring works on the amp plug.

The red and black set of stripey wires were (I think) for a degauss button on the sanwa monitor - but not sure if it's the same on this chassis?

Can someone confirm that shorting the 2 red & black stripey wires (with a button) will degauss my screen?

Yup, just use a normal momentary switch/button. You can even just quickly touch the wires together if you want to :)

Bah, its not like there is any real current going through the switch wires ;)

What are these 'kids' things you speak of anyway?

But yeah, its probably best to use a switch :D

110v goes through the demag circuit, not though the wires that switch the demag circuit ;)

Do you think some piddly 16/0.2 wire and a tiny switch would carry 110v :P

Franco while we're on do you know what's the smallest wire regarded as safe to carry 110v?

I'm no expert mate but I think it depends on the current draw.

Ok, so I'm going to contradict myself here but it looks like you could use 16/0.2 for 240v at 3A :palm:

For 6A you can use 24/0.2 and for 13A you can use 40/0.2

These values are for 240v so any of them should be fine for 110v at the same loads.

I still don't think there will be 110v in the red/black striped degauss wires. I imagine they drive a relay or something.

I may go take a look at the schematics to find out.
