MS8 keeps going out of focus

Post by willynilly »

Hi ya guys. Got a bit of a problem with my ms8 monitor, would love some advice please.
The picture keeps going in and out of focus on it's own! one minute it's fine the next it's fuzzy and out of focus. It's been fine of late but today it's gone into cack mode! I'm worried now  Could the flyback be knackered? Thanx chaps I need your expert advice please

Hi ya Chop m8. It seems to do it warm and cold! When I first put it on and after a good half an hour play. Only just started doing it.

I've noticed when faffing about this happens on power up to nanao monitors but this is usually when i've dragged a tube from the shed and i've put it down to a little condensation(always remember to let a tube acclimatise/dry it out fuly before powering it up ;) ), its not in a damp environment is it?

No it's not in a damp place at all. It's funny because after a while the focus comes back  but then goes fuzzy again. It's almost like it gets some sort of shock!

Any noise attached to it when it happens? Crackling/squealing?Get your head in there and listen, Make sure your neck card is securely seated , with cab off of course, check connectors are all seated well to start simple.

Had a good fettle with the wiring today and it seems that one of the wires on the jamma harness was a bit cack! Pin 14 was not sitting properley when connecting to a pcb. Changed the pin and soldered the wire to it and all seems o.k again. Must of been some sort of power fluctuation causing the picture to mess up. Anyway thankyou again guys for your help
