Hiya fella, i'm sure like Grant says the Yellow and Black and Green are the degauss which you don't have to worry about atm tbh just make sure the ends of the wires are taped up so they can't touch anything they shouldn't if you fire it up, well you can just leave that unconnected tbh.

Re: Nanao MS9-29 for ms8-29
I'd just disconnect the connector they are on altogether from the chassis, not needed for anything unless it needs degaussing but you can worry about that later.
Power's aok and the video signals won't damage anything even if they are not correctly connected although there's a good chance you've got them right, if not they'll just need switching about till you get it right.

Re: Nanao MS9-29 for ms8-29
Yeah its not needed if its the degauss for the monitor to function, its just to remove any discolouration due to magnetic fields but no need to worry about that atm.

Trust me Grant's the brains of the bunch, i only know basics, always worth a trawl through his posts to get enlightened, surprising what you'll learn, almost like a free apprenticeshipwillynilly wrote:Thankyou Chop your a legend mate. wait for someone to confirm 100% that the yellow and black are degauss switch and green is earthwillynilly wrote:It works guys!!!!!!!! oh yes! Thanx for all your help. Now what should I do with these degauss wires? Should I just leave them out?
i think its highly unlikey to require that green wire to be connected so you can isolate it

Re: Nanao MS9-29 for ms8-29
If it don't need degaussing i wouldn't worry bout it, i've got nothing connected on that connector on my MS8.

Re: Nanao MS9-29 for ms8-29
O.k guys thankyou. It needs a very slight degauss in the top left corner but I can live with it as it is very slight. Think i'll just leave that connector out. Just having a tidy up of the wires and i'll just leave it as is. Thankyou both again for your help I could not of done it without you two I'll post some pics shortly of my nice new ms8 in action

Is an MS8 really better than a MS9? Coincidentally I was just offered a New Astro City with a MS8 in it.. but I was going to pass, seller said that the MS8 is way better than a MS9..

No, Had a MS-8 in my NAC which was excellent! They're both excellent. Think you just got a few more pots to tweak on a MS-9christoph wrote:Is an MS8 really better than a MS9? Re: Nanao MS9-29 for ms8-29
Nice.
Well its a completely burn free MS8 versus a slightly burned MS9 in a New Astro City. Aren't these monitors different sizes? Will you still be able to tate with it just the same?
I was looking into a New Astro City for a friend solely because they have a MS9.. so want to make sure its absolutely just as good.

Although if I'm being totally dispassionate I'd conclude that they are just different. I much prefer the deeper scan lines on the MS8.

How does the geometry compare between the two?

Re: Nanao MS9-29 for ms8-29
Sorry d00d, I've never had issues with either aside for the bottom right corner when in tate - and both the 29" monitors were just the same, as was the Hitachi in the Pony IV.Rossyra wrote:How does the geometry compare between the two?
The MS8-26SU copes much better but I reckon that's just the smaller tube.
Cheers,
Ralph.
