I have a Hanterex Monitor that is about 20 years old. For some time now, the monitor has being looking a bit more on the red side of the light spectrum.
I have tried adjusting the brightness and colour at the back of the monitor and I can't get rid of the red hue on the screen.
I know that the monitor is getting on quite a bit and might be on it's last legs. I hope that it's fixable. Any help with this issue would be very much appreciated.
Would a Cap Kit solve the problem?

Re: Hanterex Monitor Issue
another thing to look out for is a leaky drive transistor, had a few do this

It's probably an MTC9000 or an MTC900, neither suffer from bad capactiors in the colour circuits, you probably have a dirty or bad ajustment pot on the neck board..
Hell it may even just need setting up as the balance of the guns will change as the monitor gets older.

Re: Hanterex Monitor Issue
How do I check if a transistor is leaking? Is it a matter of using a multimeter to find continuity between the collector and emitter, i.e. there should be none, but if I find some continuity then I have found the leaky transistor.....???? Should there be a load on the transistor before I test it?grantspain wrote:another thing to look out for is a leaky drive transistor, had a few do this
Instead of testing them, It may be easier to just change then all.
It's an MTC9110 25", is this similar to the ones you have mentioned and would the capacitors stand up to the same quality. The pots have been fiddled with and I cannot remove the redness in any way with the pots.Ordyne wrote:It's probably an MTC9000 or an MTC900, neither suffer from bad capactiors in the colour circuits, you probably have a dirty or bad ajustment pot on the neck board..

The MTC9000 and MTC9110 are very similar.. the 9110 is just a modified version for 25"
Look for dry joints on the neck board.. other than that my advice is take it to someone who knows there monitors..
Dont forget that these things can put you on your back even when powered off

Re: Hanterex Monitor Issue
A strange thing happened today. I turned on the monitor and it seems to work fine now. I didn't make any repairs and the Red hue that was there is now gone???
I'm happy now that I don't have to mess around with the back of the monitor. Hopefully it will stay that way and I won't have to make (or pay for) any repairs.
Thanks for all you advice guys.
