horizontal width coil, and other odd issues

My H.SIZE isn't working because one of these (but not the one pictured) is sort of hanging out, and if I twist it, it just spins and does nothing, suggestions? :wtf:

edit, Kern rightly pointed out ages ago it's the horizontal width coil, so I need the appropriate tool

My eyes ain't the best but i think thats a horizontal width coil

Are you turning the out side? the thing that adjusts is inside but hold fire before doing that, i think it uses a plastic hex tool if i remember right.

Like a say wait for someone to clarify :)

Cheers neokidgeo, that sounds about right, tbh it's a bit of a pain adjusting any of the chassis settings as I have to use a fairly long flathead screwdriver to tweak.

I mean is it possible to just drop the chassis out to work on whilst the cabs switched on? (I'm petrified of touching the ruddy thing :wtf:)

The 2 monitor issues I'm having, aside from not being able to change the H.SIZE, on the left of the monitor are lines coming in from the edge, as you can see in the pic.

Also I have a weird shimmer, like a pulse from bottom left to top right, which alternates, but I'm using a 110v stepdown, and it says on the back to use a 100v (even though the nidec PSU says 100-120v) I have an airlink 100v transformer coming which may sort 1 or both of these issues.

Help appreciated :)

those lines are known as jailbars, this means you have a leaky capacitor on the chassis-most likely on the g2 circuit but could be almost anywhere

Thanks Grant, good to know what it is, will have to send the chassis off to craig at giz10p or something then :)

imo if you are not pretty clued up with monitors then its wise to send to a professional like Craig, its not expensive and you know the job will be done correctly

Definitely I will do, maybe some more caps need replacing as the weird shimmer throughout the screens not been fixed by the new transformer :( and I have the right tool for the horizontal width cool, it adjusts, but only a little bit, and won't adjust the imagine enough to fit it all on screen :(

Due to the rarity it's pretty much not possible, only option I have left is to take the cab somewhere I guess, my most local is Craig at giz10p, but he has stopped doing monitor repairs.

There's a great picture in here somewhere, beneath the blooming and jail-bars the colours are vibrant and the picture sharp.

Just out of curiosity is this purely because they're not common?
