Nanao MS8 26 – picture upside down!
I have a problem with a Nanao MS8 26 as fitted to an Sega Aero Tabel.
In fact I don’t even know if it is a problem or if its supposed to be like this.
Picture and colours are fine and spot on – in fact its one of the nicest MS8 26 I have seen!
Problem is the chassis position. On most (all) monitors I have had the ‘anode cap’ (is this correct? The wire that goes into the back of the tube from the coil) is always at the top of the tube (lets just keep the picture hori) but on mine the picture is displayed UPSIDE DOWN on all the games I try, not a problem as I just flip the monitor but this then means I cant adjust the screen size/colours without taking the monitor out of the cab!
Is there a switch or option on the chassis to flip the image the other way??

I don't have a clue where that is?? What does it look like and is it a hard job or just pull out a connector and swap it around?

There are four wires coming from the yoke to the chassis - one pair is horizontal, the other pair is vertical. Flip one pair around and see the result

As I am a monitor noob, how can I tell which one is which? Are they coloured or always in the same positions?

There's supposed to be a standard, but I've no idea what it is.
One pair controls horizontal (normal or reverse), the other vertical (normal or reverse). Just flip one around and see what it's changed - it'll either be the horizontal or the vertical. You can orient the picture in any direction like this

Re: Nanao MS8 26 – picture upside down!
Cool! Thanks dude.
Seems the owner in Japan of the Aero Table must of wired it all up wrong. Must of been a paint though as all the monitor controls are on the chassis in the Aero Table and with the monitor set up like this makes it impossible to adjust the monitor inside the cab!
I just have to get used to playing on it now as its VERY different to a normal cab layout.
Thanks

Normally one pair of wires is red/blue, and theothe pair is green/yellow.
See Superpangs WIndy thread - we only just discussed the same thing yesterday.

Cheers mate
Yeah, seems the same problem as I have here.
So, I guess just swapping the connectors around on the CHASSIS will cure this. I don't need to de-solder the wires on the neck board then which was what I thought might of been done wrong
Will try it all out later on and post up the results

Re: Nanao MS8 26 – picture upside down!
Thanks for all the help guys.
I went to turn the connectors the other way around but on the Aero's Nanao MS8 26 they are all in a row and in a block style connector that can only go on one way! At first I thought 'oh no, I will have to re do the wiring'.
But I noticed a exact same style, 4 pin connector to the right, so I tried it on that and it worked!
Took a picture for future reference. The circled red connector is what it WAS connected to, the one with a green arrow pointed to it is what I have it as now and works perfect

Accidentally (blindly) connected my MS8-25 to the wrong one. Handy picture !
