Rodotron 666 fan mod

Post by ravepants »

Hi All,

I recently acquired a rodotron 666 tri-sync for my cab.

Following the advice from jomac on the wiki, i had added cooling fans to the chassis.

Seeing as there was no guide as such for this i did some experimenting to maximise cooling and fitting of the fans.

I used noctua 120mm 12V fans, I tapped the power from a spare 12V connector in the Net City, and I made a tube/extension for the neck board from 0.5mm Black Polypropolene Sheet, avaialable from most hobby craft type places or kitronik if your in the UK.
The neck fan is cable tied to the frame, and the main pcb fan is attached using sugru and gorilla tape.

The tube was made the right size for the fan using the inside of a cd case, the part the CD sits in (conveniently they are the right size) to measure it and help it keep shape while you tape it.
the tube is 12CM long and currently attached to the fan with gorilla tape, this may be improved later with silicon sealant or a fan adapter, but for now it works.

Anyway, pictures explain better, so see below:

Hope this helps someone else wanting to do this.

if you have a 3d printer here are some additional options for the neck fan and chassis fan:
