Monitor identification

Post by j69 »

Before I take the cab to bits, can anyone identify the monitor in my NNC please?

Its got a Toshiba sticker on the tube and looks flat to me. I thought it was a tri sync pure flat but I've bought a remote board for the extended menu and it doesn't fit, leading me to believe it may be a different monitor?

Thanks

It’s likely a Sanwa PFX chassis. You’ll need to take the back off to confirm.

The Toshiba chassis on the PF tubes are:

-PB9929
-PD1843
-PD2367
-PE0493

The remote boards have one button, then a bank of 3, so don’t look the picture above

I’m pretty sure it’s this chassis: https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/images/1/1 ... Manual.pdf

Hmm, so obviously not the tosh pure flat tri syncs that were mean to be in these NOS NNCs?

I wonder of they all came over like this or whether I was just unlucky?

Although looking at Google they both seem to be viewed as similar quality monitors

I’ve no idea what chassis are on each cab, but it has a Toshiba flat tube.

I'm so hopeless with monitors.

So a Tosh pure flat tube and sanwa pfx chassis?

The Sanwa PFX came paired with several tubes and the page in the wiki lists them all.. You need to open the back and look at the chassis, tube part# can also be visible. But the four button remote is a dead giveaway that this is a Sanwa chassis indeed.

https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Sanwa_PFX

What types of CRT tube are used with the PFX?
Single-focus pure flat CRT tubes of the following types have been observed in the wild:

A68MAU085X90 - Matsushita Color CRT Assy (Ford Racing cab)
A68AKY13X501 - Chungwa (Some Euro Naomi cabs)
A68CPB... - Shanghai Novel (KW0606 chassi)
A68LTF356x - Toshiba Pure Flat (Seen in NNC with KW0606A)

The tosh tube is a very nice combo with this chassis, probably the best. (I have one with the Matsushita tube that has a bit of diamonding in the outer focus circle.)

I think all of the Chinese "NOS" NNCs came with Sanwas.

PS. they're not NOS.

NNOSNNC

Although I’ve never seen one, by all accounts, it’s one of the best trisyncs available

Well I knew mine wasn't NOS and I paid a little bit less for it.

I saw the others though and if they weren't NOS they were pretty damn clean and clearly hadn't been on site

FrancoB,

Admittedly, they were pretty nice, especially for cabs out of China. The control panels were swapped for new repros.

If they were sited, they definitely weren't in any public place.

Yeah, the first think I spotted was the Control panel. I had a genuine one years ago and you can tell the difference.

I'm still happy with it though. It came fitted with a jvs to jamma and kick harness too
