Hi all what’s a sensible and fair price for a Japanese PCB version of in the Hunt please.

Thanks
It’s hard to value a lot of older shmups as hardly any come up for sale, but IMO €350-450 or £900 next month

In Europe 400€
In Japan 1000€.

Is it another raiden DX then. I don’t understand the massive difference with some games :eh:

Ahum... I disagree here about the Japan "value".

There has been one offered in the YAJ quite a long time for 50000 Yen ~425 Euro (was there still about 12 hours ago when I browsed around) and it has not sold. One open auction in YAJ for In The Hunt ended around 4x000 Yen two weeks ago. For this year the open auction YAJ prices have been around 30-40kyen, if I recall correctly. A good game, but actually not very rare.

Of course, if you buy from Japan, you'll end up having some more costs from possible proxy, shipping and customs.

More or less all games released before 1994 are like half or even less the price in Europe compared to the shops in Japan.

Yeah, but also a big question goes: what is the real selling value... What I have noted is that some (especially Japanese) sellers keep their huge prices from year to another and nobody buys and stuff doesn't move. Imo, value in price tag is not real until it sells well with that price.

Agreed, Japanese shop price isn't indicative of value.

https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/closedsear ... 2084047781

Six boards sold for 34,500 to 57,000 JPY (295 to 485 eur) in the last four months.

There was nothing wrong with the one that sold for under 300 euros.

Where were you getting a thousand euros again?

tops, beep, surugaya etc

And if you are using a proxy and pay VAT of 20% and etc you end up 30-40% higher.

However I do not understand people prefering the Japan Version of PCBs. They are all 60hz and not PAL. (yes I know some are different)

Tops has one for 98,280 yen, which is 840 Euros, not a thousand. And Tops is always far higher than any other shops.

https://www.tops-game.jp/products/detai ... ct_id=4768

I checked BEEP and Suruga-ya but they don't have one in stock. I highly doubt either of them (especially BEEP) sold one for such a high price.

It's the prestige of being associated with Glorious Nippon, but to be honest I think it starts that there are **** western versions of certain games that lead a lot of collectors to conclude that all western versions are ****.
Well good luck reading your moon language.

Uhh, what? You're pointing to home computers and consoles now? Arcade PCBs have RGB output. not colour encoded composite...

Anyway, the topic was price discussion - even putting ~30% on top of 57000 yen open auction end price wont make more than 74100 (633e). Why should someone buy from Tops and get the most expensive board available? That's just a price tag made up by Tops...

Here is the one in YAJ (as said already, it has not sold for long time, just have been relisted):

I'm not saying you have to, vutbif you've ever bought a board from a Japanese PCBshop you know that it's kind of in a league of their own. All boards I have bought over the years have looked new.

Just something to take into consideration aswell

This is generally true.

However, you can still end up with some right duffers too in my experience.

Recently happened to a friend with a Valkyrie System II PCB from Surugaya :problem: carefully angled pics to hide damage. And "state flame" was not mentioned!

Tops says their In the hunt has damage on the board. They still want 98k yen for it.

The boards I've bought from shops have generally been in very good condition, but the ones I've found from private sellers on YAJ have been just as good.

Yeah. But surugaya is not tops/mak/gfront. Last time we were there they had 400+$ boards just laying in a a pile in a box.

This is just my experience.

Yup, I’ve been on a full-on, duffer streak recently! ;)

So, I’m more than happy to shatter any illusions that buying expensive PCBs from Japanese shops guarantees you’re getting mint (or even fully working boards at all) :( In fact, if my experience with Valkyrie is anything to go by, don’t even count on getting the same PCB pictured.

Yugen2plus has also seemingly taken to hiding/not disclosing repairs - as I found out recently with an X-Multiply I won. Although at least in that case, the repairs were pretty clean, and the game actually worked.

I doubt I’ll ever buy again from Suruga-ya after my recent experience. But surely G-Front are the worst of the lot? Genuinely lost track of the number of horror stories I’ve read about broken boards.

Tops seem the most transparent…but while a lot of their Cave games, etc are in nice shape – most of their ‘older’ stuff seems pretty hit and miss, in terms of condition. Despite the high price, the Ninja Baseball BatMan they have in, for instance, has no seal on the main board, missing ROM seals and messy repairs.

In case you noticed I traded a nice Kaitei daisensou with all labels and holo sticker in the amount of €500. That was a fair deal for both.

What can I ask for a original Metal Slug 5 NEO-GEO Jamma PCB?

It's the same as this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/Metal-Slug-5-A ... 4181959136
That price is a lot more than I can ask for. What's a fair price?

I paid 80 euro + shipping for one last year.
