The low end would be from YAJ and using a cheap middleman (capped commission)

Realistically, to import today

140,000 - From a shop
5,000 - shipping
6,500 - PayPal commission (4.5%)

£1,240 and that's if you dont get stung for customs.

I would start round about there. You have the benefit of offering a sale with no customs charges in the EU.

ExcellentCom has Akai Katana with art for $1490 = £947 before shipping/fees (which is usually around $75 = £47)

Tops has Akai Katana kit for 136,000 yen = £1093 before shipping fees (also usually $75)

I imagine that if someone could buy the game from a distributor for less than £1200, then you might want to start a little lower.

$75 fees? Shipping alone maybe. There's normally a 5% PayPal charge...

4000 yen price cut on that topps kit from last time ;)

They all add 4.5-5% for PayPal. If we are being really pedantic about this we should also add 20% VAT , 5% to cover import duty and the old £10.20 handling charge.

The seller has indicated it cost him a lot more. Advertising something teh rarez, for a higher price is not unusual. If you don't get a bite you can always lower the price. Surprisingly buyers don't like it when you start low then up the price.

I intentionally put a large margin on the valuation and stand by £950-£1150. The low end, from YAJ or for a pcb and art. The high end from a collector or reseller in Japan.

The only way to test it is it stick it up for sale. At this point it's all speculation. My offer of £750 is on the table :awe:

This was more of a best case scenario rather than a realistic expectation. I bought the game when it was fairly new so I know depreciation is certainly a factor.

When you import a board from YHJ or a reseller, the sticker price is certainly not the price you pay. Proxy fees/Paypal/postage/VAT/customs charges can all add significantly to the cost.

All that aside because these don't come up often in the west, its very difficult to gauge the price. Its ultimately worth what the highest bidder will pay. It would make no sense for me to start low and potentially do myself out of hundreds of pounds. ;) As markedkiller says, its better to start high and be prepared to move downwards, which is why I wanted a reasonable starting point.

Having talked to my wife last night, I'm not going to need to sell it now anyway, which is good as it would have been a reluctant sale.

Cheeky, but I can't knock your optimism! ;)

Haven't seen many English Taito F3 Puzzle Bobble 3's out there. So what's it worth with the mobo?

Yea that's what the Japanese version usually goes for but I've heard that the English version should be worth more.

Damn I can't believe how long since I was last on this forum :)

Unfortunately things change, and I might have to start looking to sell my games + cabs in the very near future for space reasons so looking for guidelines on prices (it has been 4 years or something :)), so if anyone can give me a rough idea of what this sort of stuff would sell for these days:

Games:

Original JP Progear (B board only, non-phoenixed unless in the time the battery has gone)
JP Mars Matrix
Ibara with full art
DoDonPachi (Korean board with English and JP ROMs)
ESP.Ra.De (Korean board with English and JP ROMs)
Sexy Parodius
Bubble Memories JP (both JAMMA and Cart, no art)

Cabs:
Sega Astro City (6 button layout with CPS loom, some screen burn)
Egret II (pretty good condition, 6 button layout, no screen burn)

Thx

bubble bobble boards are generally about 220-240. there is boot thats pretty near 1:1 iirc some enemy movements/patterns aren't 100% or its the item randomisation they're about 60-90. if you put the money out for the original, one tends to turns up pretty fast.

Any ideas on a bubble bobble PCB? - Around £200 maybe?

I think the main problem would be actually finding one. What's the best alternative? The taito multiPCB version isn't bad but doesn't display fullscreen, the boots can vary wildly in quality, and I'm not interested in the F3 versions

Hmm.
:wtf: :eh:

The Multi one is fine, but you need to tweak the monitor specifically for each game.
