otaku-fr quoted me one for 1350 and on the neo arcadia forums there is one for sale in good condition for 3800. So anywhere in between. :-o

I think prices are getting crazy and will drop a lot when more hd games get released and more crt monitors die.

I think the opposite, if more CRTs die, the prices will go up unfortunately. Of course the tubes should last our lifetimes. As long as we have fine folk like Grant repairing chassis, we should be ok.

I would say 2500-2700 was the common price. Rklok and otaku-fr are usually the cheapest since most of the cases they buy something from Japan and move it to your home as is. Even though, rklok asked 2500 in the old days. I am not surprised of 3800 because of the increase of prices.

Shure, prices of mint CRTs will go up, but not prices of used and abused cabs. It' s a bit silly to think the tubes will last our lifetime and I am shure Grant won' t do this forever and some chassis are beyond repair.

Majority of new arcade gamers will look for ease of use and availability. A select few of us will still use the old cabs for nostalgic reasons.

I have Tubes to last me my life time. :awe:
And taken care of the jp chassis are surprisingly sturdy.
And used/abused cabs can be restored, no problem.

Also, I'm pretty sure the private cab owners don't leave the machines on 24/7 ;)

I think and hope we are at our limit price wise , if anything the last while cab sales prices have leveled, demand is definitely lower anyway , and nostalgia is a driving factor for most of us for candy cabs!

AO is a lovely community. The wiki is something very special to be proud of. There is a strong control over bootlegs and somehow an etiquette on fair prices (also RKLOK contributes to that). Actually, most of the cases, items are sold in minutes, but members do not raise their prices the next time there is a sale of a similar item.

The last item I bought here was for free (shipping costs only). How cool is that? :awe:

Buying opportunities from AO marketplace or from RKLOKs is great. Hoeever, try to buy AK Home Edition, or maybe you fancy SC25-4, or even an E2 when there is no one at the marketplace. I know this pain firsthand when I was looking for my Pony 3. People do not sell no matter the silly amount of money your offer.

Candy cabs are still a niche, but when people know them, they feel in love. ;)

Oh that's awfully tempting. Once upon a time the money would be in your account already.

If there's going to be a Jan vs zak bidding war I'm backing away already.
