I've been toying with the idea of seeing about trading out my MVS mobo for the smaller one, just because of space issues in my waredrobe where I store my arcade stuff. But Im never sure on trades and prices.
Would my Neo Geo MVS MV-1F be a fair trade for one of the smaller MVS's? And also, how much would it be worth?
This is the mobo :
I've replaced the battery though with a Super Cap so that there won't be any leaking issues etc.
I've seen those go for wildly varying amounts on ebay (£10 - £100). Sometimes someone wants one for the extra little features. I think a trade might be tricky to find though. List it for sale in several places and be patient.
If you put it on ebay don't chance an auction. Go for about £40-£60 BIN so, allowing for fees, you'll have enough for one of the little ones.
The larger one slots are generally more desirable for the joystick ports etc. You may well find someone on neo-geo.com who will trade for for one of the more compact models.

Probably get £80 delivered on ebay for one of these and then buy a smaller one on J+ for £50
One of the conversions at least, has a different C board. It is possible to patch the code for the C board registers, but it needs some knowledge of 68K and the MAME debugger.
That being said, not all C boards behave the same. I did some tests with someone skilled, and there is some brightness register which is not fully known. No way to know unless the poster tells us which chip is on the C board. (Looks like B21 or B17 on the upper left one.)
