Is your Mystic Warriors Japanese region, by any chance?

Re: WTT Mystic Warriors
There are actually quite a few - but they don't really seem to be documented anywhere (that I could find, anyway).
Off the top of my head, rank options are a bit different, and bosses take a lot more shots to go down in non-Japanese versions.
The Asian version is also (inexplicably) missing the level 1 mid boss.
There possibly are more differences...I was trying to note all of them at one point. But got sidetracked

Re: WTT Mystic Warriors
There's a level 1 midboss? You mean the Saw Van?
It's on the JP version too.

Re: WTT Mystic Warriors
Well, mid boss/miniboss is possibly stretching it. The buzzsaw vehicle, is what I mean.
I have the Asian version and it's definitely not there. It just scrolls past that section (same on the Asian ROM in Mame). Caught me off guard when I first fired up the PCB.

Re: WTT Mystic Warriors
You're right - buzzsaw is in all other versions (apart from Asian).
The Japanese version is the only version with the 'correct/balanced' rank, though, from my testing. Seems to be a bit of a running pattern of Konami turning games into quarter munchers for western releases

Re: WTT Mystic Warriors
Ah I didnt know there was a separate Asian version.
I'm glad you got a version at least. I was so mad when a lot of the graphics and effects are not present through MAME and emulation.
The ending didn't make much sense at all through MAME. I have the JP version and yeah it's definitely MUCH easier and manageable than the other versions I played. I think it's in my top 5 played game.

Have the Asian PCB (AA A) and the van is definitely there. Compared with the Replay Burners YT vid, the first boss it takes (more or less) the same amount of hits to go down...Grinning Cat wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 7:20 MPThere are actually quite a few - but they don't really seem to be documented anywhere (that I could find, anyway).

Re: WTT Mystic Warriors
It’s a terrific game anyway, probably the best run n gun from the big K
The thing I hate the most is that, like in Sunset, you continue and you keep the score (without even a 1 at the end). The one who continue the most gets the better spot

My Asian version is AAB - in that version it's definitely missing (have just double-checked in Mame)sirarthurahf wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 8:17 MPHave the Asian PCB (AA A) and the van is definitely there. The bosses honestly do seem to have longer lifebars in say EAA compared to JAA. It surprised me...but I have seen that aspect confirmed since by someone else over at Shmups. Interestingly, the rank options in the service menus (going off memory here

I agree. It really is awesome (whichever version you have)sirarthurahf wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 8:42 MPIt’s a terrific game anyway, probably the best run n gun from the big K

Re: WTT Mystic Warriors
I remember you explaining about the ending being messed up in Mame - back around the time I was looking at getting a Japanese copy from you (I think via everyone's least favourite seller in Indonesia). I had always slightly wondered what was going on there until you explained itSunder wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 8:13 MPAh I didnt know there was a separate Asian version.

Yeah, ultimately, I'm really happy just to own any version

Re: WTT Mystic Warriors
Whats wrong with the ending in MAME? Just curious.
