Two thumbs up to this firm: https://proovia.delivery/

Arranged collection with seller, blanket wrapped and strapped, 2 man collection and delivery for a fair price with all the modern tracking wizardry. Would use again.

I've also used Gaming Direct from Blackburn before for a twin driver.

In the trade we use Tom & Tandy of Essex & Hadfields of Manchester.

I've used those guys before (via Shiply).

My 2p - when using a general courier, make sure they'll blanket wrap or do it yourself. Oversee the loading so nothing gets strapped across a more delicate area.

Last three cab purchases asked martin was unable to collect just didn’t seem to fit around his schedule.

So I used Shipley twice and also rented a van and collected my Self.

I found Shipley went like this -
Loads of over prices offers
Start up conversations will all of them.
Then the haggling begins and you start to barter the
High costs down …. Most of the delivery guys won’t play ball and simply say they are not interested but
1 or 2 are and both times I got a cab delivery for £150.

I was very happy and they did wrap a blanket round
And strap it inside the van -

1 van had no tail lift and it was a twin cab driver ..
That was interesting . He had on and off ramps
But we needed to use our elbow grease.
2 can was a brand new large van with tail lift
So was very smooth.

I will be using Shipley Again .. basically be prepared
To barter it’s built into the fabric of the Shipley websites
Process of completing an agreement.

As mentioned I've used shiply twice & not paid for the extra 2nd man but there was 2 of them on both occasions, sundaydelivers4u

Yeah I got all the high quotes £400+ at the start for a sofa & ended up paying £80 from Castleford to St Albans.

I used Shiply to get a Jaleco Pony from Spain to the UK.

Various man & van services run routes on a regular basis, so you just need to check they have space and the rate is very reasonable. This was before the UK left the EU, so it may well be more complex now.

If possible strap the cabinet to a wooden pallet. That 'should' avoid them trying to lay the machine on it's back and create some extra room between your item and the other things being transported.

Make use of the recent feedback to check what kind of items the courier deals with.

For example, if they have been handling high value antique furniture or expensive stuff they are probably safe with a candy cabinet, but you can quiz them as part of the price negotiation. I found if I asked about insurance for damage, then quite a lot of the bidders would simply not reply back - so you can rule those ones out.
