Windy 2 RGB video inputs/output help

Post by barth0lin0 »

Hey! i'm a proud new owner of a WIndy II.

i have a few questions concerning the multiple video input and outputs of this cab.

1) On the toshiba chassis, there is 2 different connectors wired to VGA connections: are they 2 different inputs ? currently only one VGA cable is connected to one of those and it's connected to my jammafier.

2) there is RGB and audio inputs and outputs on the back of the cab. i know it's there for cab chaining in the first place. Can i use it to have a second VGA input on the back of the cab ? Can it be used to get audio out to an external amp/sub ?

read both the wiki and the cab manual and did'nt find the answer.

For now my Jammafier is directly connected to one of the VGA/Rgb input on the chassis and both audio RCAs directly to the amp.

the back input/output panel is not used for now.

i would like to make use of the second rgb input if possible to connect another device (mister, xbox 360, etc) .

any windy 2 professional here ;)

thx

I have not tried but I would imagine if you connect two powered sources simultaneously there will be interference.

There is a schematic here.

Yep. Already looked at the schematics and It doesn’t tell if it’s two identical inputs

I’ve heard one is amplified and the other is pass through. Don’t know if it’s really the case.

Anyone have the schematics of the back input/output board ? 3 vga connectors inside the cab and 2 at the back .

Thx

This is the NNC chassis . I own a PD-7534 chassis .
Not sure if it’s the same ….

Ok. Will look at the NNC chassis schematics

Anyone with info about the linking inputs/outputs in the back of the windy ?

It’s not so much looking at the NNC schematic, one is high impedance and the other low.

I can’t remember which is which as I don’t have a W2 any more.

Externally, the back panel is input and output pairs. Internally, it’s the same, with the 3rd going to the monitor.

I’ve never tried, but as yosai says, 2 active inputs will likely cause issues. It’s designed to be master and slave. The example I can think of is 4p power stone 2. Master cab does video and sound, slave simply does controls for player 3+4

Have a look here and scroll down to Rear Panel

https://www.gamestone.co.uk/gsrcade/arc ... i_windy_ii

RCA and USB look fine but It looks like you'll need a bespoke cable for the video.

Edit.

Page 20 of the manual has the wiring. Video is Mini DSUB15 to DSUB15

thanks ! you are right one is high impedance and the other is not.

tried both 15 khz and 31khz yesterday on both inputs. see pics

i wouldnt plug 2 active inputs of course.

last question: what the exact wiring of the 3 internal VGA ports in the back ?
