Vewlix Diamond Black Levellers

Post by Halloween Jack »

Hi Guys,

I've recently managed to acquire a Vewlix Diamond Black cab. However, the retaining nuts on the inside of the horizontal bearers have popped - possibly due to cheap welds.

As a result the threaded levelling 'feet' are wobbling all over the place.

I'm told that this is a common problem with the Diamond Black, but does anyone have a solution to the issue and pics to share?

Many thanks,
HJ

Well, aside from Mig welding it back, a quick fix would be to use one nut either side of the threaded leveller.. And a washer on both sides under each nut, set your level, then tighten both nuts.
The nut and washer on the underside stop it falling through.
WANTED! .. Any Tatty old candy cab!.

Thanks Neo Gold, that sounds like a great idea. I'll get on to it.

I would happily remove the horizontal bearers and have the nuts rewelded, but I've no idea as to whether they can be removed.

Are you in the USA? I've been offering this service for a long time. There are 3 bolts per leg. Take those off, take off the front piece (one screw each). Send em here. I strip them (factory DB paint is crap, doesn't appear to have primer or anything either). I re-weld each nut and re-thread each foot if need be. I powder coat what is a pretty close match on each leg. PM me and we can talk shop!

Thanks very much for your response battlesmurf and apologies for the belated response. I'm based in the UK, so sadly unable to subscribe to your services.

I'll follow your guidance and see how far I get. Regarding the retaining screw, could you advise me where its located, presumably under the leg itself? I haven't tipped the cabinet to examine the bottom yet.

Many thanks,
HJ

inside- open the front and back doors- there's 3 on each of those.

All good. Let me know if you have any questions!
