NAC doorway tip/ how far to strip down
Hi all - got a new astro city coming into the house - trying to work out how much might need to be disassembled to get through a 71cm internal door ie how far into this i'll need to go..https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/New_Astr ... Down_Guide . Guess hoping could keep the CRT in. CP stay part of unit right? (first one). I mean i'll find a way just seeing what i'm in for.

You may be looking at a full disassemble.
The base and front, up to the lower side of the control panel are all one part.
There’s nothing really that you can take off to make it any less wide or deep.
Guess it depends what’s on the other side of the door if you could “pivot!!!!” it through somehow.

ha thanks appreciated, the "pivot" is giving me hope..maybe possible.. was hoping i could avoid full disassemble and getting into CRT discharging etc + fighting stubborn screws.

A NAC monitor is in a frame, it doesn't need to be discharged to remove.

Yeah, the monitor isn't an issue. It's really easy to take out in an Astro. However, stubborn screws are indeed a ball ache. Arm yourself with JIS drivers as advised in the AO wiki guide.

Had similar situation. But as described way up here, you can fully disassemble it, 71cm passthrough is no problem. Will take you 30 mins to do this, just don't be scared and take lots of pictures for the re-assembling again
Use 2 people for this.

Re: NAC doorway tip/ how far to strip down
Also, is it 71cm max or could you take the door off to give you a few more cm?
You could do the full tear down solo (have done it myself to get it through a door) but a second pair of hands is useful for various reasons (thinking of reassembling the back onto the base can be a bit tricksy (not impossible solo though).
Can’t echo the advice about the decent driver enough too.
Oh and a handy pot/divider to put all the bits in.

Re: NAC doorway tip/ how far to strip down
Got the driver. Yeah it’s the door casing (wood batons on the inside of the doorway)on these Doorways that restricts the width (I mean you take them off but your in redecorating territory ) . Weighing up the solo teardown but can get some help. Also thinking if I have to teardown a floor below my chances of lifting that monitor up one or maybe two flights might be tough work too. It’s like victorian era houses weren’t designed for arcades, what were they thinking..

Re: NAC doorway tip/ how far to strip down
You’ll need some security torx bits for a few of the screws iirc. If you need to break it down fully, the power lead panel is held in by security torx screws.

Re: NAC doorway tip/ how far to strip down
If it wasn’t connected to anything it may just be a connector that stuff like the controls and speakers hook onto, then that one could go down to one of the two front feet.
It seems like it would have the length to reach down there.

Re: NAC doorway tip/ how far to strip down
Oh yeah it’s 100% ground related.
On my NAC I have nothing attached to where yours is on that pic. Most of them attach to the connector bracket on the left hand side of the panel.

Re: NAC doorway tip/ how far to strip down
Finally doing this- ( and cleaning as I go) there are two other grounds from the coin mech - wondering if it should be attached there (see where I’m pointing ) doesn’t naturally reach to the foot

Looks like a good spot. Ideally all of the metal parts should be grounded together.

Re: NAC doorway tip/ how far to strip down
Just noticed on my other NAC the same ground cable runs up to one of the screws in the cp.
