Hello everyone,
I have recently bought an Astro City and have problems with the coin acceptor.
The coin sometimes gets stuck on the first catch and to get it out I need to lift the catch and drop it again (as seen in the video).
From my own research this should be an AD-81P coin acceptor:
https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/AD-81P_Coin_Acceptor
But I could not figure out which adjustment setting is the reason for my problem.
I tested different settings for almost all of them but nothing did the trick.
Currently they are set as they were when I got the cab.
I am using 100 yen coins. I have currently only three of them (damn pandemic) but all of them get held up there.

Does someone have any idea?

Re: AD-81P Coin Acceptor problems
I have found a solution.
I needed to minimally (1mm) bend the upper lip of the first catch.
The catch can now rotate a little bit more and this allows coins to go through.
This may not be the cleanest solution but it works

Re: AD-81P Coin Acceptor problems
I'm having some issues with my AD-81P's and I'm at a bit of a loss myself
I was set up to take 25cents and I'm trying to adjust to take Sega Tokens
I have removed the magnet and if the door is sittng back on itself (say 15 degrees leaning backwards) the tokens are accepted
However, in the vertical position they are not
I have noticed that I seem to be missing the nylon piece on both of the mechs, instead I only have a t-nut - it seems to be enough to let the coin go through and works with 25c so maybe this is fine, but I cannot get this token to work
It seems to make it into the correct chute, but falls too far forwards, like something should be blocking it - in fact, if i hold a screwdriver in there (just above the printed PPD-3003) it does appear to work
Am I missing an adjustment somewhere? Am missing a part?
Thanks

Re: AD-81P Coin Acceptor problems
Hello I followed this guide, was helpful to make the adjustments for thickness etc..
https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/AD-81P_Coin_Acceptor
I had some problems also with the levers, removed the e-clip and levers, cleaned them inside and also their posts with fine sandpaper and alcohol. After that I lubricated all moveable parts with fine moebius oil (i’m a watchmaker), but any fine machine oil like for a sewing machine will do. Works good now.
Cheers Merry Christmas,
Sammy

Re: AD-81P Coin Acceptor problems
Thank you - all the levers seem to be working as intended - I can successfully accept 25c (well, the one 25c coin I have!)sammyv wrote: ↑December 24th, 2022, 2:14 pm Hello I followed this guide, was helpful to make the adjustments for thickness etc..

I'm actually thinking I might just jam a shim of plastic in where my screwdriver works... Would rather something more "proper" tho!
I'm unable to post photos yet, but I think looking at the few I can find I'm missing a small post on the back of the nylon piece which would do this job

Re: AD-81P Coin Acceptor problems
So I've been messing about and doing a bit more googling (boxing Day, yay!) and I'm definitely missing the white nylon bit at #3 (seen here: https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/AD-81P_Coin_Acceptor)
This occasionally causes the coin to fail
Also one of the doors is a little warped it seems and needs pushing in to work
I don't suppose anyone knows where I could source just the nylon part? Or even send me a close up photo of one - I could then try knock one up for 3d print

Re: AD-81P Coin Acceptor problems
In case it helps anyone I've designed a piece for this coin door which will help it accept SEGA (and similar) tokens... been through a number of iterations and it's now working 100% for me
