Super Neo 29 Type II (Hyper Neo 64) Question.

Post by Amb47uk »

Hi guys,

First time setting this up.. So I understand this variant is set up for hyper 64.

However I don't have hyper64 system to test. So I tried a 6-slot mvs.. 4 slot mvs and a Pandora jamma board to no avail.

I only get a white screen... Is this normal using said boards?

If I buy a hyper64 system will it work? I'd just rather get a nice 29 inch MVS or jamma experience if possible.

Appreciate any help how this can be done.

I used to own one of these cabs, it was just Jamma from what I recall so would work fine with the jamma board, the 6 slot is not Jamma so sound would be messed up but you should get a picture.

Or after reading that post above you may need to change some wiring around. :D

Thanks so much for the info guys.. So it's just a powering issue to get jamma out of it?

Just found a spare 8pin molex in my garage, anyone know the exact name of the 4pin molex so I can buy in UK?

if on your power supply you don't have that
there is a good chance that the problem is this

I don't think I have this interface
I'll check
otherwise for the connectors it is the same type for the supply of naomi motherboard

Thanks for the info @hikaru.

Ive found someone to hopefully build me the cable. Do you have the wiring diagram for it available?

I tried to have a go myself from your photos but unsure if I have it right? (i couldnt see all of the red & black wires)

Really appreciate the help

Connector series isn't Molex. It's JST VL.

Thanks, the 8-pin cable I already had spare from my NNC. I spent hours yesterday trying to find the 4 pin connector on google to no avail.

Any idea what they are called?

Thanks

Thats great thanks Hikaru, so that is definitely correct for the red and black (#1 to #4)connecting to the male 8-pin?

Just want to make 100% sure for safety.. as I guessed those completely (I couldn't see from the photo.)

Thanks again

Yes
once the interface is installed
the cable on the right red / black 4 pin
will not be used
it is used to power the hyper neo 64 motherboard

So whilst the Jamma power cable is being made, I bought a hyper 64 to test.

It has no connector for the extra 5v (should it have?) ...there is 5.1v coming through the Jamma edge. But I can't tell if it is powering the board as I still get a white screen :-(

Any help appreciated

Hi Hikaru,

No it does not have LCD, just a light up marquee.

I didnt realise they are all so different.

The hyper64 board I have has a switch for MVS/JAMMA

I am hoping once I get my Jamma power cable made, then I can power this hyper 64 just by the jamma edge ..... fingers crossed!

Thanks again for all your help.
