Noise filter

Post by erzane »

Hi,
What's the utility of the noise filter? What happens if wire 1 and 2 are inversed?
Also, pls can you check if my AC diagram is correct?
Thanks!

It's AC, so nothing. Remember you can plug in the AC lead both ways.

Your drawing is incorrect in that Live goes through the fuse not the Neutral.

Also if you are concerned that the filter may be causing the problem, remove it and try without it
in circuit.

That's true, yes. I've been working on Euro Naomi cabs recently and in those the noise filter is before the transformer. Shame on me for not looking at the pic. In this case swapping 1 & 2 on the noise filter matters. You'll want the live side going to the fuse.

I just saw your precisions. A friend did a new diagram for me, this one is ok?

Almost correct but not quite, the Blue Neutral from the On/Off switch marked 1 should go to 0 Volts and not to 100 Volts.

That's true before going to 0V the cab worked fine, but how can it be possible? To me 0 means 0. :wtf:

0 Volts is Neutral, it will not work how you have it.

Do you have a picture of the transformer, something does not seem correct with your sketch.

Here it is:
Btw I had to change the numbers on my noise filter since I just notified they are written in a different order on it, and only four numbers (earth isn't numbered)

I see, so your drawing is wrong, the transformer is

220 volts in (P) Primary,
100 volts out (S) Secondary,

Both Neutrals or 0 volts as the common.

Your transformer looks correct.
