Retouching New Astro City body paint advice

Post by delatroy »

Hello :)
I'm in the process of restoring a NAC. The body has quite a lot of imperfections shall we say:

What are the options here for touching up the black parts?
Also does anyone know what a good colour match is for the white body parts? I read that people think that RAL-9002 is too grey.

Ok, from what ive been reading if you're UK or can get a hold of it - rustoleum painters touch paint gloss (this is more white)

Good finish according to this thread - http://www.ukvac.com/forum/search_resul ... paint&PN=1

Also RAL 9002 (but this is more white grey)

I'm eventually going to try the former option, Hope this helps

I read that the RAL is not a precise match and that LB9A candy white is better so I preferred that. All metal panels I’ve stripped down to bare metal and applied 2000grit for smooth finish. I’m not certain if clear coat is needed or not yet. Someone said no but it would help for durability and gloss I suspect so I will test it

All the metal work on my Astros have been blasted and powder coated RAL9002. Colour looks spot on.

I'll get some pics to post up here

Maybe they are both fine. Did you repaint the body panels too?

I thought certain parts of the cab couldn't be powder coated because of the heat on plastic, how did you finish those parts, (monitor and speaker surround)

The monitor surround and speaker panels were painted by a car paint shop in RAL 9002
