Hi,
I measured a 30mm button and my tool give me 29, max 29,5.
I'd like to make some holes in a CP but must be sure to not make it to big.
Actually I planed to to do holes of 30mm. Isn't it too large?
How do you proceed to be precise?

Just measure the diameter of the button plunger, do not drill holes of the same size of the outer rim of the button, do you have a button to compare do you? if your tool says 29.5 then thats what you need, its easier to widen the holes than trying to fill them if you f**k it up.

Re: Correct measure for 30mm buttons holes
Cut the holes 30mm.
As you've found the body of the button is less than 30mm but they tend to have ribs between the body and shoulder which centralise the button and take up any slack.
One might say they're ribbed for your pleasure

I also agree 30mm is best,I mistakenly bought a 29.0mm hole punch and spent ages widening all my holes with a file.

I bought some control panels from Yaton that had 29mm holes. Fortunately with a step drill it was quick work making them the correct size.thegreathopper wrote: ↑May 7th, 2019, 7:09 pm I also agree 30mm is best,I mistakenly bought a 29.0mm hole punch and spent ages widening all my holes with a file.
