Egret 2 Speaker Wiring Question

Sort of a technical question here -- So I bought a Sega Amp a while back to hook up to my Egret 2 so that I can have stereo sound through the built-in speakers when i hook up my Naomi. Looking at the Egret 2 wiring diagram, the speakers say that they are 4 ohm, 10 Watts. If you look at the existing F connector hookup, it seems that the cab wiring is using 22 AWG wire. Power = i^2*r , so I would have thought the max current draw would be sqrt(10/4) = ~1.6A That would require something more like 19 AWG wire to be safe. Any idea on why the cab end of the wiring would be using a smaller guage? Or am i misunderstanding this?
