Screws/Bolts for Naomi

Post by Shinny »

Hi, during the process of taking apart and putting back together my Naomi I've noticed a lot of the screw heads are getting pretty worn out. I was hoping someone might have a list of the types of screws/bolts used. I went to B&Q with a few in hand but couldn't find any matching ones so I'm planning to order from screwfix. Just need some info on which ones to get, I'm wanting to replace pretty much all the ones inside the CP and I'd like to replace all the Torx bolts with regular philips head.

Thanks in advance.

You'd probably be better getting ones with Allen Key holes.

Screwfix would be your best bet (i.e. cheapest).

IIRC they are M8, but not sure on the lengths.

They're M4's and M8's if I remember correctly.

Get Zinc plated or any plated m4 or m8 button head screws as these are specially hardened and dont where easily lenght would be around 10mm to 15 mm haven't measuer but that's normally what i use for any arcade stuff

I'd personally go the screw-fix route.

They're mostly M4 and M6 machine screws (tamper-proof on the outside/exposed parts) depending on what part of the cab your putting them on. (eg smaller parts use M4 x 8/10/12/16mm pan-head like inside the control panel etc, larger parts use M6 x 25mm for example on the CRT cover, bezel etc)

The manual actually tells you what spec screw you need for which part on the schematic diagrams
http://www.sega-naomi.com/resources/man ... versal.pdf

Screwfix sell em dirt cheap but unfortunately no longer stock zinc plated, they do however have stainless steel instead. I bought some recently but they didn't stock them in the shop near me, but they always deliver next day.

Just do a search for 'machine screw' on http://www.screwfix.com, they should have all the ones you need, but they don't stock them with tamper-proof heads (those tend to be expesive anyway in my experience) The Pozi-drive ones can be used with a phillps screwdriver, but you're better off with the proper pozi screwdriver bits

Thanks for all the info. I'm just working my way through the diagrams trying to figure out how many screws I need to order.
