anyone here own an upright 18 wheeler?

Post by LemonyVengeance »

Can I get some help with figuring out where to go from here? I thought I would ask the fellas here since most of you are in Europe and this is a european cab.

I managed to get my hands on an 18 wheeler in a naomi Uni and when pressing the gas the readings in the test screen would show that it was acting like I had been letting off thew gas. Naturally I took this as a sign that the pots needed replacing, so I got ahold of two 5K pots and made the swap. The test menu shows that everything is registering: when I press the gas and brake both analog values move and stay when the pedals are held down.

Game play is another story. The game is registering that the pedal is being pressed, but the semi isn't going anywhere.

here's a video of what's happening:

The menus only have volume control calibration options for the steering wheel, so unless I'm missing something, there's no way to calibrate the pedals.

Has anyone ever replaced the pots on a Naomi Uni before?

I don't have an 18 Wheeler, but I do have older Sega driving games. The values for the pots are fixed:

When released (pedal is up), the value has to be 30H or under.
When pressed (pedal is down), the value has to be C0H or over.

Same values for both brake and gas. See the operator's manual:

http://www.progettosnaps.net/manuals/pdf/18wheels.pdf (page 46)

It's a bit fiddly to do. A small turn of the pot will result in wildly different result and the pot doesn't always want to line up with the cog in the pedal.

That did it! :D although I had to remove the bushing under the pedal to get it to go past C0H, but it's for home use, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Thank you so much!!
