Re: [Project] Capcom Mini Cute Cabinet Production
Thanks for your opinions.
All of you are right on your side. But I just making this cabinet bcs I like Capcom Mini Cute.
I know it is small and maybe not comfortable for 2 players.
If is it possible to produce Sega Astro City, I want to make it. But it is impossible for now. There is some plastic parts and another materials.
Anyway we will see how will it go...

What are your plans for manufacture of the tinted monitor cover?

this is the easy part. You can make it with 4mm plexiglass and hot air gun . I made it before.FrancoB wrote:For this?Hursit wrote:I made it before with some foam and black carton paper. Then painted. Re: [Project] Capcom Mini Cute Cabinet Production
Lol, I was going to say. I was a bit worried when you mentioned carton paper. Maybe I still should be
I've not had a Cute before, how does the monitor cover fit to the cab? Cast plastic hinges or?

Re: [Project] Capcom Mini Cute Cabinet Production
You've made one before? Awesome I would be interested in seeing one of your repros. nvs asked me to make one many moons ago and I remember looking into it. IIRC I was going to make a mould and a heat oven to form it. Do you get enough gravitational sag (whoopsie) with a hot air gun and localised heat to form the exact profile required?

For the bezel you could try vacuum forming.

Re: [Project] Capcom Mini Cute Cabinet Production
The screen is fixed with security torx fasteners to tabs on each side and top and bottom. There is a gap of about a mm all the way around and it doesn't slot in anywhere, so care is needed putting it on and off.
The appeal of the cute is the design and small form factor, although it is not the most diminutive 'mini cab'.
As it was clearly designed for kids (hence the 'Kiddy Game Machine' tag), it also suffers (for adults) on the viewing angle side especially when it's in tate, -having only a slight angle back. I'm a shorty, but even after scooting back a bit the viewing angle is not ideal. The issue is not so bad for hori games (if you are a bit short).
The SC19/Neo19 and the Pony 19 have a better viewing angle, and the footprint is smaller.
When you have a mini cab, you have to accept compromises, especially with multiplayer.
At the end of the day if you want a hardcore gaming machine that you will use for many houred sessions, you get an Astro / E2 and then find space for it.
The Pony 19 is pretty much the best option if you really only have 56cm x 65cm.
The SC19/Neo 19 is limited (compared to the Pony) by it's screen not being rotateable (but not if you never want to tate it).
I'll let a Neo/SC owner confirm whether the hood is obtrusive. However, it does hark back to people making carboard hoods on cocktail cabs back in the day, so they could focus on the games. Of course , if you're a Neo fan then you won't mind the other limitations (control panel and needing a Jamma adapter).
Back to the Cute, although there are a few cons, this doesn't mean that these cons are practical limitations, I very much doubt a Cute buyer really expects to be intensively playing on it for hours every day. I think that most of us usually have limited time to play on our machines, so although long sessions will be harder on a cute owner, sitting down for a few credits and then some every evening probably won't.
It might also crush a child, but then is that a bad thing?

Re: [Project] Capcom Mini Cute Cabinet Production
Hi - I have been away from Arcade Otaku for a while and I just saw your post.
I recently refurbished 5 Mini Cute Cabinets and I have sold them all. I do have a large grouping of spare parts if you are interested. Including items like cams for all the doors, the coin entry slots piece, control panels, NOS control panel overlays, an extra bent plexi, an extra metal bezel, etc.
Send me a PM if you are interested and I can get back to you later this week (Thursday or Friday) with a list.
Good luck - Detroit44
