Molex or JST (or AMP?)
Hi guys,
I heard about that Molex is american, but most of the old japanese cabs I saw had Molex inside (Astros, egret2, pony).
Other: what's the difference between JST & AMP?
Thanks

Re: Molex or JST (or AMP?)
Molex is a manufacturer, as is JST. None of my Astros have connectors made by Molex.
AMP is a connector system by TE.
I guess you're thinking of Mate-N-Lok, which is a connector system, also by TE. The Pony I owned had Mate-n-lok connectors. However, Molex has a line of compatible connectors called MLX, which is where all the confusion comes from I guess.

Re: Molex or JST (or AMP?)
AMP was a company acquired by Tyco (now TE).

Re: Molex or JST (or AMP?)
I see. It's more complexe than I thought.
Is ''TE'' japanese?
Other:
Akishop is selling those ''AMP'' connectors by Sanwa
https://www.akishop.jp/connectors/139-a ... ector.html##
Could those ones replace all TE Mate-N-Lok connectors of the Pony?

Yes, most of them but not those that need mounting brackets.erzane wrote:I see. It's more complexe than I thought.

They won't be original specification then though. Thought that was important to you?

thank you for looking into my case you will certainly be a precious help (of course it's sarcastic)
After this drawing I guess TE is a japanese society, right?

Re: Molex or JST (or AMP?)
Actually I should have Mate-N-Lok if I look after what Nem said.
The reason why I did this thread is because I would like to replace all my used Mate-N-Lok by brand new ones & I would like to try AMP to compare their phyisionomy. I already ordered some Sanwa ones by Akishop (if they really are Sanwa, but this is what is was written as their ref.) so I will be able to make another comparaison.
My inquiry would be the following:
SInce there is a lot of different connectors that I cannot identify well, can you give me every links where I can found precisely both Mate-N-Lok & AMP connectors pls?
Here are the ones I need:
- 1P male & female + pins which fits
- 2P male & female + pins which fits
- 3P male & female + pins which fits
- 6P male & female + pins which fits
- 8P male & female + pins which fits
- 9P male & female + pins which fits
- 12P male & female + pins which fits
- 15P male & female + pins which fits
Thanks guys, your help will be appreciated (and it's ''not'' sarcastic)

Re: Molex or JST (or AMP?)
Best place I've found for MNL connectors in small quantities is eBay, did the same when I was repairing some Pony looms.

Re: Molex or JST (or AMP?)
Thanks Nem
Here are some mesures I made about one of my used Mate-N-Lock connector (the 6P).
They looks a bit different than the classic universal AMP you found for me, and pins aren't the same to. They have rounded ending and are more thick.
Since I would like to purchase Mate-N-Lock to, pls can you do the same listing for those last ones if you find them by Digikey?

Like cools, I've only ever bought MNL connectors in small quantities from eBay. I don't have any model numbers on hand for you.
